Jurassic World

Anyone else getting bored of the trend of movies to have the climatic scenes at night? Godzilla done the same thing. Is it so they can get away with using less detail on the cg or what? Bloody annoying as a lot of the scenes would look so much better in daylight.

Or worse, having the "big fight" going on obscured in the background while the cast run around in the foreground taking up most of the shot.

Cheaper when things are dark yo!

I saw it last night. Such a poor film, but so much fun! I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Sure, the plot made no sense and was created simply to move us from one cool scene with dinosaurs to the next. It was lame. But it didn't spoil the fun IMHO.

I thought it was utterly terrible. The whole 'using dinosaurs for the military' thing was just ridiculous.

The only bit I liked was their vision for the theme park itself e.g. all the different rides, and information stands. Some nice ideas there but it's a shame it didn't improve the plot one bit.

A film about genetically engineering dinosaurs from DNA spliced with frogs etc. and you pick apart the bit about the military wanting to use them as a weapon.

thats probably the most believable bit...

Although it didn't quite bother me as much, I think they could have done away with the whole in-gen military story, and just had Pratt using his trained raptors who turned on him, and then save him.

I was also confused why In-Gen was like a silent partner? I'm guessing there was an outside plot that when hammond died, the remnants of his company rebuilt with some dodgy ceo.

Spoiler...
For the next film they're going to splice in some human DNA to make the dinosaurs smarter.
But everyone's surprised when it all goes wrong, because Raptors with machine guns seemed like such a good idea.

Well the USA Navy used trained dolphins so not not really in the world of unavailability is it?

Most people (me included) know little enough about genetic engineering so the idea of bringing test tube dinosaurs to life from preserved mosquito blood doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility. It's a good idea for a sci-fi film.

It's far easier to explain why military dinosaurs wouldn't work and you don't need an appreciation of genetics. See below.

Trained dolphins don't cost millions/billions(?). That's what it took to make the baddy dinosaur.

The film led us to believe that dinosaurs could be some sort of super weapon revolutionising the battlefield, which is stupid. Fire a gun at a raptor and it's dead. The only reason the dinos massacre everyone in sight is because the fools conveniently run into long grass every time something goes wrong and can't aim for ****.

It's a well-used technique for adding dramatic effect. Like rain, wind etc. There's a word for it, but I can't for the life of me find it.

You'd soon find that if some of the most dramatic scenes in movies were shot in the bright sunshine in the middle of the afternoon you'd lose quite a lot of the 'edge' to them.

Seen this last night.

As expected pretty ridiculous and out there, but kinda enjoyable up till the last 15 minutes or so where things go proper bat **** crazy (even for a film about genetically modified dinosaurs running about an island)

Entertaining enough, but go when the tickets are cheap!

I loved it. It had its flaws and the blatant product placement was annoying but for the whole it was a thoroughly enjoyable film. Some weird bits where it's obvious that some scenes didn't make the final cut, like the mention of divorce in the train but that was also easily overlooked.

The other thing that I thought was a bit stretched out was the reliance on the Aunt to look after the kids, and a kid who is no older than 16 being so dismayed that said aunt wasn't spending the day with him.

A 16 year old. In a dinosaur park. Wtf.

Loads of references to the old films though, very well done. 8/10 for me.

That did irk me a little that the older child was more interested in his phone than the awesome amusement park with flippin dinosaurs.
