I noticed yesterday that my steering wheel is pretty gross and really needs a good clean. The car is 21 years old this year, and I've owned it for the last 11 and I certainly haven't cleaned it in that time :o

What's the best product/method to get all the grime out of it? Cheers.

Gliptone leather cleaner/conditioner. Just done it on a 15 y/o steering wheel after getting it back from mechanic with oil on it. Really needs another feed

Cleaned the steering wheel on the Passat while washing the windows. Now it's dull on one side. Oops :o

I have used a "magic eraser" sponge with good results on a steering wheel that had gone shiny. It worked quite well but you can over do it so be carful.
Be very careful with this, those magic sponges are abrasive so there's a real chance you could rub the top layer off the leather. I use Dr Leather to clean all my leather, great stuff :)

Thanks all. I used a damp microfibre cloth in the end with a dash of soap, and it's come up a treat. Cheers :)
