So we're planning on going for a day at the beach in about a month, my 2 year old is autistic and loves the beach but has trouble with communication and such things, we went to Devon last year and she was going round trying to steal peoples buckets, spades, dogs etc :D

I've been to skeggy and ingoldmells before and they were rammed, I think it would just be a nightmare. Is there anywhere OCUK approved which is reasonably good for a day out, but also unpopular? Might be impossible :D

I'm in the midlands so east coast, perhaps south of Wales or even Kent would be ok for travelling.

Pity you can't get to north wales, Rosscolyn on Holy Island (top of anglesy) is an amazing beach with everything a child could want, and quiet.

Rockpools when the tide is out, sandy rather than pebbly, RAF Valley have cliff rescue training around the cliffs which they are happy for people to sit and watch....SeaKings are very impressive up close

Pembrey beach, pretty massive when the tide is out or any of the Gower beaches, possibly rossili as its huge and avoided compared to the ithers.

Anywhere north of Chapel Point (Chapel St Leonards, 2 miles up from Ingoldmells) & onwards up to Sutton on Sea the beaches are lovely sand and virtually empty.

Loads of quiet beaches up here - so many things to do as well, shame you can't head this far north.

Oxwich bay on the Gower. The beach is huge, while it might not be quiet you should have plenty of space and being further from Swansea it isn't as busy as the other beaches on the Gower.

Anderby Creek, just north of Skegness. Lats time I went was about 10 years ago. There is literally just a cafe there and miles of very quiet beach.
