Hi all,

Just bought some new TeamGroup Elite 16GB (2x8GB) 1600mhz ram. My motherboard is a Asus P8Z68-V-Gen3.

I can't seem to get it to boot with both sticks. It just powers up for about 1 second then powers off, and it loops.

Each stick works individually, but not together. I'm trying them in the A2 B2 slots.

Tried a cmos reset, tried reseating the ram. I'm on the latest bios version. Any ideas?

Yeah Asus say both blue slots for a pair. Anyway, managed to get it to post using the MemOK button. First time I've needed to use it, didn't even know what it was for :p

Can you boot to BIOS OK? If so manually set dram voltage to 1.55v and vccio to 1.15v then see if its stable

If not set dram v to 1.65v and see if its any better, the memok button finds the most stable ram settings

Realised the problem, dimm slots B1 & B2 are dead. Can boot into windows with the sticks in A1 & A2 but I'm running single channel.

Faulty motherboard?

Loosen CPU cooler slightly, maybe quarter turn undone on each screw

They should be in the second and fourth ram slot from cooler to front of case for dual channel, try that first

Tried loosening the cooler, same problem.

I just tried my old ram (Kingston HyperX 1600mhz, 4GB stick) in both B1 and B2 slots and it booted

Seems like those two slots dont like 8GB sticks?

Shouldn't they be in a2,b2 though?

I have same board but 4 4gb sticks

Tried in a1 b1 slots?

A1 B1 and A2 B2 won't post, but A1 A2 will. B1 and B2 individually won't post either.

I'm so confused. After booting up with one of the HyperX sticks, I tried the TeamGroup in slots A2 B2 and it booted.

Checked cpu-z and it was running 1333 and 9-9-9-24. I went back into bios and manually set 1600 and 11-11-11-28 and I cant post again.

Some sort of incompatibility then, you shouldn't have to mess tbh

Sure your on latest BIOS? Also tried the command rate at 2t?

I'm on 3603, think that's the latest one?

Yeah it's defaulting to 2t at the moment, just doesn't seem to like running them in dual channel.

Guess I'll be popping these on the members market then :o
