I have been trying to fix a HTC one M8 with the dreaded no sim found problem.
What I've done so far without success is :

Tape on top of sim
Test with new sim
Replace sim tray
Replace sim holder and flex
Reset phone
Re-install OS
Turn on/off aeroplane mode

Would anyone know if replacing the daughter-board help?
or is the problem on the logic board.

I had to send mine back to HTC. they sorted it out.

I think it's telling that the m9 has a completely new sim tray, much more substantial construction.

It's been rooted so no warranty.
What I understand that the daughter board has the following functions:

NXP 44701 NFC controller

Bosch Sensortec BMP280 pressure sensor

Qualcomm QFE1550 dynamic antenna matching tuner

so I'm unsure that changing the daughter board will have the desired affect ?

It''s a friends in for repair. Searched the net for answers and it's a common feature of this phone, sadly no-one seems to have found the cause so I think I'm going to swap the daughter board and see if it's the perpetrator.

Even tho you have routed, no harm in contacting HTC. You never know if it is a common fault. (Fingers crossed mine doesnt break)

Yes, there are stories of people getting their phones fixed by HTC despite it being rooted/modded. In fact, I don't think from my experience HTC usually refuses repairs for this reason.

You can still return a phone even when it has been rooted, just in case though it is always advised to flash the stock ROM so it is unrooted and appears like it hasn't been meddled with.

Anyway, it sounds like a hardware issue as unless you've been flashing different modem files/ROMs to the device it shouldn't cause issues to the SIM card detection.
