Just got my RMA'ed 780ti evga classy back last week, haven't had a chance to properly test it cause of work but so far I've been hitting peak temps of 80 even on days like today, early today witcher 3 was hitting 80 on my card benching it hit 80 etc. earlier this evening I decided to start playing wow again. Luckily I had all my monitoring apps open on on my second screen and saw the temps. How is wow has pushed my card to over what it's hit before? As soon as I saw 89 I closed wow. Those temps were too high for my liking.

Any suggestions as to why this happened? I feel like I wouldn't be able to RMA as its only in wow and if they test it it'll seem fine.

Yeah but it's the fact that witcher earlier on today was normal full load temp. And wow is suddenly 10 degrees hotter. Rooms a pretty consistent temperature throughout the year too.

My 780 hit 80 degrees today. It generally runs at 72. Its just a hot day so I guess cards are running 8-10 degrees hotter!

What is the airflow like in your case? Could be that it was gradually getting hotter in your case all day if it has been on for a while.

Might be worth reapplying the thermal paste if you're comfortable enough in taking it apart

I never turn my PC off, granted its not at full load 24/7 but it still is on would build if that was the case, however i have relatively good airflow, 3 intake at the front one side intake directly on to the GPU and 3 exhaust, 2 back one top. So as you can see my airflow gets pretty much as good as it can get.

when the air going into your pc is at 26 degree`s or higher , then add mobo + cpu temp , the air is already 10 degree`s warmer than `normal` so ofc the card will run hotter

For some reason WoW heats my GPU up like no other as well. God knows why.

Temps are going to be higher in this weather.

Was a good day yesterday to test my new purchase from.the MM, a Zotac 780 Ti OC, and my cooling system in general. It was 82F (around 28C) in my room and the card never got higher than 73C, even after being oc'd' to 1221mhz, quite pleased with that.

I'd probably take the card apart and re-paste, Every card I have done this to has yielded better temps without fail. And ramp up those case intakes/exhausts! My classy 780 has been hitting 79-82 this week even on my rather loud custom fan profile.

Yea...too often people under-estimate the difference it make having good airflow and sufficient airtake to feed cool air to the graphi card coolers.

The difference of a case with good intake vs poor intake can be as much as 10C on the GPU.
