Has anyone ever had any luck in contacting instagram for account issues

A few years ago I think I created and then deleted or at least stopped using an instagram account that is associated with my main email address.

I now have a requirement to come back and re-use instagram however I appear to be unable. When attempting to create a new account the app tells me there's already an account linked but if I try to reset the account's username or password the system tells me the account isn't active.

Basically I appear to be stuck in an endless loop unable to get working again.

I have no requirement to keep any of the old pictures that may or may not still be held I'd just like to get a fresh account setup. Sadly I dont appear to find anyway of contacting them directly to get the account details or get it reset and I dont really want to setup a separate email account just for instagram
 
If it's a gmail account you can use your normal email address just add a . in there somewhere? That way the emails will still come to your main inbox.

If you don't use gmail then this is probably no help to you.
 
If you used gmail then you could add a . into the email address you sign up with, or add a + followed by any characters you like. As far as Gmail is concerned, it's still the same email address, but crucially to Instagram it would look like a new email addy.

Whichever email service you used may have a similar facility.
 
Can't you use something like 10minutemail, make a new account, and just hope you never have to use the forgotten password system?
 
This is the process for disabled accounts on the Instagram page:

If your Instagram account was disabled, you’ll see a message telling you when you try to log in. Accounts that don't follow our Community Guidelines or Terms of Use may be disabled without warning. We suggest that you review the Community Guidelines carefully along with the posts on all accounts you've created.

If you think your account was disabled by mistake, you may be able to appeal the decision by opening the app, entering your username and password and following the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t see a disabled message, you may be experiencing a login issue. If your account was deleted by you or someone with your password, there's no way to restore it. You can create a new account with the same email address you used before, but you may not be able to get the same username.
