Vauxhalls targeted

It's mostly the Limited Editions with the fancy bodykits that lesser-model owners want to upgrade their car with.

This is crazy, I live in Luton and haven't heard of this happening! Need to warn my mate with the Corsair VXR!

Looking at some of those pictures, they have removed pretty much every front panel including doors in some! How do they do that without smashing stuff in?

According to the article they are stolen then sold off in the parts market, probably to the same people who had bits stolen from their cars, only to have it re-stolen.

Strange (criminal) business model. Surely it would be easier to steal the whole car, take it somewhere secluded, and remove the bits there?

I've heard before that owners of Land Rover Defenders have to be very careful - not least because all the bolts for removing stuff from them are outward facing so they're very easy to dismantle.

Could very well be a factory worker. They seem to know what they are doing and all the stripping is a very tidy and professional job.

It's not that hard. Everything is bolted / clipped on. With practice you could strip the front of a car in minutes. First remove the bonnet (a couple bolts each side), loosen the wings (a couple bolts each side), loosen the headlights and anything attached to the front cross member. Then just start removing what you've loosened and work your way down / back until you have what you want.

When I stripped my golf, for the front it was basically that method. Bonnet, wings, lights, grill and bumper. I'd never done it before. Took me about 30 minutes.
