wtf? surely that's not even a sure-fire way of destroying the guns and would require someone to go around the field and pick up every single piece to make sure no one salvaged a part to reactivate a deactivated weapon?

or was it only the shells they blew up?

A Panzer IV from the Littlefield collection was expected to fetch $2,000,000 dollars at auction a few years ago. Obviously, the value of the Panther depends upon how original the parts are, the provenance, and the condition; but with Panzer IVs being much more common, and the Panther supposedly being one of the best all-round tanks of the war, I'd say it'd have to be worth more than the IV's asking price.

I think you can pick up a Sherman variant for a trifling £300,000.
