So a friend wants me to build hima rig for 4k gaming. The games being Dirt 3, Project Cards, Witcher etc

Won't need a monitor as he has a 4k TV. I have a spare user for windows too.

He isn't fussed between water cooling or air as he'd have the game volume quite high.

Space is not an issue either.

Problem is I don't game at 4k, so I don't know what to look for?

Definitely check the input lag. There are online tests you can use and I tried mine whilst it was connected to the laptop to see whether there was much visible lag compared to the laptop screen when moving the mouse around.

Mine is fine when the input is renamed to DVI PC but it's a 1080p samsung.

Might he want to up the budget a touch and wait for Skylake?

Otherwise stulid's build looks awesome.

850w will be fine for SLI cards and overclocking and also adding more drives in the future.

I doubt you see 650w from that system.

The H110 will keep the temps in order whilst maintaining reasonable sound levels.

+1. The PSU for that system is overkill, however it does leave you headroom for sli in the future.

Should be a good solid system that.

Two cards on air thats a lot of heat being dumped into that case even if you had the rad at the top i reackon temps would be up on the cpu.

I would personally swap the gpu's to blower style

There is 2 gpus on the list.

DOH! There is, then that PSU should be fine. My personal experience though is XFX returns in the UK sucks serious balls, failed to diagnose a faulty GPU 3 times!

Considered EVGA? Depending on the model some are made by Seasonic, some are made by SuperFlower?

XFX also use Seasonic as a OEM.

Returns are handled much better, sure there was a shake up between XFX and Overclockers where the RMA turn around is a lot quicker.

First thing to test is the TV, as you can have a great PC for running 4K, but the input lag will ruin it all.

Yeah XFX do use Seasonic too, quality wise the XFX will be spot on, I'm just salty because of their returns in the past has sucked for me. If OCUK can confirm the XFX RMA procedure no longer sucks balls then I will go back to using XFX as a brand.
