Energy rip off,

im with EDF duel fuel, 18.9p SC for elec, 26.(something)p SC for gas,
thats ~46p per day :(

The joys of our smart meters, standing charge is part of the tariff price and we're generally the cheapest for pre-pay customers. Only pay for what you use :)

It's quite surprising the number of customers I speak to that have just moved home and 'want to back to British Gas because they've been with them for 20 years' is where they make their money. People blindly sticking with what they know but paying way more than they need to.

most people on pre payment meters have already cause plenty of faff for the energy companies, I don't see an issue with charging them a premium

theres always one isn't their:rolleyes:

why should I pay more just because I like to pay as I go?some of the most vulnerable people are on pre pay meters and they are getting ripped off its just wrong

I havnt caused them grief I just want cheaper energy while staying on prepay

why are you on a pre payment meter

if it is through choice then... well get it changed

if it is because you've caused problems by not paying bills before... well the extra premium is fair enough in that instance

When I had smart meters installed, I was under the illusion that I'd be able to find my readings on the display they supply you with and reading my meters would be a thing of the past. How wrong I was. :(

It took a few months before OVO could read the meter readings, therefore I now have a gap in readings and am still in the process of using my historical readings to try and find my annual usage. I now make a point that on the same day of each month (ie: 7th) I take meter readings.

They use the same meters as us but they configure them differently. They really shouldn't have this issue but somehow manage to make a balls up of it. Have you got the touch screen IHD?

just choice and its a headache keeping track of quarterly bills

how do old age pensioners get on? I feel sorry for those they aint gonna deal with the aggro of switching (government should force them to lower prepay meter bills or bring it inline with non pre pay bills)

The problem is you're using a meter and product not meant for you really.

You can check your usage and monitor it just about the same by using a credit meter, better pricing, direct debit discount, monthly bills, and an online account.

I'm sorry but its self defeating to complain about prices when there is a cheaper option out there for you.

yeah your right but it just seems a lot of hassle tbh

@dowie ill have to look into it,the electric isn't too bad tbh but the gas in winter eats it up

I still feel more should be done for prepay customers

So the lazy and/or stupid have been ripped off by less than £5 a month. Who gives a flying **** about this?

That's not really the attitude to take mate. RTM'd There are a lot of reasons people aren't making the right choices. Sometimes it is ignorance but sometimes its because they just don't know

It always will, I see people using 150 kwh per day in the winter and at 4.371p per unit that's a hell of a lot per day, but they'll moan because 'it's costing them a fortune' yet the prices were explained to them and they're the ones using it sadly.
