US: Hannibal Season 3

Caught the first 3 episodes so far. I keep thinking that I have no idea what is happening, but something about the show is just so intriguing that I keep watching. Hannibal may have managed to manipulate me into carrying on watching, generally I don't have time for pretentious faff but this has me utterly hooked.

At this point I am not entirely clear who is even still alive. I thought the show had finished last series with the big fight seeing as all the characters apart from Hannibal seemed to be dead. The talk of everything that could happen has happened, just in another version of reality, has me sure there are some more twists ahead.

I'm watching it still but it's turning to ****. Lots of pointless stuff going on, it's like they've ran out of ideas.

I'd agree with that. Which is what is most worrying. We're getting to the bits people want to see and they're floundering.

But at least we got to see Fishburne channel Morpheus one last time :)

Not enjoying this season much. Three episodes in and it just feels more like a bad student art film, it's all over the place.

Agree with above... Just not as engaging as previous seasons... very stylish and clever but perhaps missing the murder of the week which gave it more payoff?

I feel the same, it's starting to become more of an experiment in visuals than a story. They are very very good but taking up far too much screen time. Previous seasons drew you in in a similar way a book does, this season just feels 'artsy fartsy'.

Perhaps this is why they cancelled it, they knew what was coming this season before we did.

Yeah I agree with you all. It's getting to the point where the visuals are more important than actually telling an engaging story, as NexusK said it's a bit too 'artsy fartsy' for my tastes now. I also find the dialogue a bit too abstract at times, do people really talk like that in real life? There are too many metaphors, parables, cautionary tales, etc.

Hmm well with the "Red Dragon" and Will working with Jack again I expect the it will be a return to format of sorts. It was cancelled because of the lack viewers which I think I read in some news website.

I really hope that's true (the return to form, not the cancellation) but that still doesn't excuse 7 episodes of of nonsense directed by people who wanted to make pretentious music videos rather than a TV show.

I've lost interest and stopped watching, i haven't seen the past 2 or 3 episodes. I'll probably go through it again when the season is done but the urge is gone at the moment. A shame really as it was brilliant before and i was disgusted at it being cancelled.

Same here, I just can't find myself sitting down to watch it. It's all a bit OTT.

It was all very odd at the start of season 3, the last episode certainly turned things around though with the Red Dragon.

The reason its less popular this season is it fully submerged into hanibals realm where as before it was night and day with the investigation of various crimes.
The audience seem to prefer the contrast or chase between killer and detectives. I agree it was OTT I appreciate its a unique series but they pushed it a little too far for the mainstream audience figures needed

Perhaps if hanibals italy experience was shown in flashback like they are showing Abigail now, inter cut with the red dragon investigation it would have been more palatable especially when many know this part of the story from the films
