This will annoy me as the roads might not be dead quiet on Sunday evenings any more..
It's great timing, extend sunday opening hours so those about to get their benefits slashed in the budget are able to work more hours to make up the short comings.
What a master stroke.
This in turn then makes Sunday a normal trading day and you watch those companies do away with Sunday premiums, saving them millions.
As our "everything right now" society moves away from the concept of Saturdays and Sundays being different to the "weekdays" how long will it be until the 9-5 mon-fri job becomes almost extinct?
I for one don't like this, and that's not just because I work in retail. Participation in sporting activities is falling due to more people working weekends and this will simply get
worse. Some people need to remember that we work to live, not live to work.

Yes, I have had dealings with him before where he bases his opinions on what the Bible teaches, and claims things are immoral, or things are being destroyed on the basis of it being against the bible.
He was going on about how the gay marriage being legal in the US was disgusting, because being gay is wrong, vile, disgusting and abnormal. He goes on about the Bible as much as he can, but conveniently now he's pretending his view has nothing to do with it.

So I would be appreciative if you wouldn't tell me things exist largely in my own head when you aren't aware of what's actually going on.
Anyone can opt out of working Sundays if they so choose anyway, can they not?

What has it got to do with this thread? Have i mentioned religion in this thread? No! You are trolling!![]()
Yes, just in retail expect only to receive 4 days work instead of 5.
You'd need to face the reality of the sector you have chosen to work in. Not many people would be employed in the first place without the expectation that they would work every Sat or Sun or both.
The two busiest days of the week are Sat and Sun probably making up half of their sales, if you chose not to work them, expect to simply lose that day from your pay packet if not more.
But as I have already pointed out, abolishing Sunday trading law would only make a 10-4 day into a 9-5 day for most retailers. It's only your big supermarkets where that would actually change and on a Sunday they would have staff working all morning / night after closing anyway re-stocking shelves, doing deliveries, .com orders, bakery etc

Just because I'm saying something you don't like, doesn't mean I'm trolling. As I've said, it's very clear that the Bible tells you what your views are, and to claim "Family Life" is being "destroyed" is certainly to do with your Bible influenced opinions.
To be fair even during the week if I end up in Tesco for some reason at 3am there's literally only one person about, and they're manning the self-service checkouts.
