The X41 is the 140mm variant correct?
For what it's worth, I get better temps from my Noctua DH15 than I did with a Corsair H100i. It's quieter too!!
Yeah, but the rad & fan are far too big to go on the inside of an Antec 300 case at the top.
I had a look at one of these before deciding on an X41(now an x31) and there's no chance of it fitting in an Antec 300.

Yep, big air beats most AIOs though you need the space and willingness to have a big heavy chunk of metal hang off your mobo

With a r9 290 i went from an i5-760@4ghz to a i5 4590 and in gaming the difference is almost zero, only a couple of games like assetto corsa and dragon age inquisition have seen an improvement, and it's like 5 to 10 fps in the minimum. Most games have stayed the same.
The improvemente comes from the sata3 big difference in loading and booting with an SSD and the consumption and heat, with the same cooler I have less heat and noise.
Frankly I think you can stay 1 or 2 years more with that cpu.
that is assuming you are only gaming, in other applications the difference between a first gen and haswell is huge.
