I have £300 to spend on a pc for basic web browsing, word processing and some web design. I don't need a case or OS.

I'm thinking an APU system may be suitable. Atx and m-atx are fine.

Please help

You can run an APU system but even an intel system will have decent enough on board graphics to handle most of those tasks. Intel Chips are faster so it may be worth going for an i3.

Could a Pentium K overclock to beat the i3-4150?

Really, even an unclocked pentium would sffice for your needs (if you want to save a little money). The i3 just offers you that extra boost if you everwant to fire up a game or a more demanding program now-and-again..

How much of a boost?

OKay, this may just seem a list of number but ill explain a few important ones.

As is obvoius the i3 out performs the pentium in multi-threaded tasks, see cinebench/3d particle movement for numbers.

Games wise, average FPS will be around 20%-30% higher but withminimum FPS being more stable (closerto average FPS). See GRID bench.

Obvoiusly with an OC'ed Pentium K you may get better results. Either is a good choice. :)

They're not really good for gaming though.
I think the Pentium is better value. Whats the best mobo for it to overclock?

If that's all you using it for why you need to overclock it?

I could do what you asking on my phone, so why you need to have more processing speed?
