hey guys,

im looking to spend some cash on my PC, mainly in the monitor/GPU department as well as PSU.

so the games i play, a bit of everything, a lot of demanding games.

my current system spec is

[email protected]
2x4gb 1600mhz
GTX 970 G1@1539mhz
crucial 256gb SSD
OCZ 120GB SSD
1TB HDD
antec true power 750w

currently using a dell 30" 1600p (NOT mine, borrowing off friend)
also using a AOC 24" G2460P 144hz

now i want a new monitor, mainly because i dont like using more than one monitor and ive been waiting for a 1440p IPS 144hz to arrive.
im debating if to add another 970 G1 for SLI or just run the single and upgrade to a better card in say another 12 months.
if i was to get another 970, will i need a bigger PSU? if so what size?
there is no budget in mine but would like to keep it as cheap as possible.

what should i do here guys? i dont mind going B-grade to save some cash either.

cheers :)

SLI should be fine on that PSU :) I would SLI as it is the best bang for buck solution and will offer outstanding performance.

sounds good to me pal!

so monitor and GPU, should i add another 970 G1 for £281.99?

or just get the 1440p 144hz IPS and carry on using the one card?

Similar situation to you over here 1080p wanting to make the move to 1440p and 144hz but I only have a single 290X which for the games I like to play with the eye candy I like to have I don't believe is powerful enough to have a great experience, Even my 290X with GTA for example has drops from 60fps (With the default suggested settings)

Up to you :p Your current card on its own will cope fine at 1440p, so you can see how things go with a new monitor ;)

suppose thats wise, whats SLI scaling like atm? 970's doing well? or will it be a pointless purchase, i dont mind paying for it, but only if its worth it, 980 ti prices are way too much for me.

what do you think guys?

Scaling depends on the game, there is no set figure, but in new releases you should expect 50% as a minimum and 80% as best case scenario.

I'm running 970Sli and it's well worth it in my opinion, 1440p @60fps is pretty much guaranteed in every game out there and I can play many games at 4K 60fps with the right mix of high/very high/ultra settings.
