Correct but he appears to do this part after hitting the car when the van is already clear of the car, more like he is checking the damage rather than clearance. Plus if he was checking the clearance he'd have definitely noticed the collision or he wasn't checking that he cleared the car as it moved.

If I was driving that sort of van, pulling out of that sort of parking space, thats EXACTLY where I'd be looking at that moment in time. I'd be looking there to make sure I had cleared it on the side due to the height. You don't pull out of spaces like that staring dead ahead!

The fact that he had scuffed the bumper before then may or may not be relevant - its purely speculation. I'm sure I explained that already. I'm not saying he didn't know and I'm not saying he did - I'm saying that nobody in this thread could possibly know, regardless of how much of a post you capitalize.... you might be certain for whatever reason, but you dont know. The only person who knows is the driver.

Really, once the nose is out you look at your left wing mirror for traffic. How poor is your spacial awareness that you have to stare at the corner of the car infront when going full lock with the nose already out?
 
You actually see the cars rear end lower slightly when the van scrapes it. The van driver would have heard that on impact. No way he didn't hear or see what he did.

You do have evidence that he parked there, that and proof he left the scene of an accident. Send the video tot eh parking enforcement?

where did you get your cam's mate (if OcUK don't stock them of course), the quality looks fairly decent tbh

if your front end is out then the rest of the van will follow suit, unless you have a trailer.
 
Seriously, makes me FURIOUS that some people are offering this guy any kind of defence. He CLEARLY looks at the damage after the fact, but more importantly, if you look at the shots below, he isn't looking down to make sure he has clearance BEFORE he hits it, as any decent good driver would do. You can quite clearly see he's just looking straight ahead! At no point before hitting the car does he look to make sure he has sufficient clearance, he just plows forward with no regard... yet some of you are defending him by saying "oh, he's only looking down to make sure he has cleared the car as you would do"... AFTER HE HAS HIT IT FFS!! This is far more damning than him looking at the damage afterwards. It's careless driving, end of.

He definitely knew he hit OP's car, if he didn't see, hear or feel it he should not be on the road. The camera has basically paid for itself here.

Do you have a photo of the damage to your car OP? (beautiful car BTW).

The Quality uploaded is at lower rate, Camera's are Hikvision 4mm 3Mp DSC-2CD2032-I camera's from Use-IP

I have filled in a Form 207 for Local Police, and got a CAD Ref for Insurance purposes. I do't see the police going any further unless there were injured parties..

Only OcUK posters would miss the point so much that they take it as a defence ;)

I simply said you cant possibly know for sure, so there's no point getting the pitchforks out, rather just deal with it in a calm rational manner. I couldn't care less how many times someone posts "he would have felt it", it's nonsense...you dont know for sure, so there's no point acting as if you did.

But hey, why let that get in the way of a good rabble, huh?
