Ebay buyer protection not guaranteed

i dont think he needs to be told multiple times about being wrong trying to fix it himself

Most of the (multiple) replies about him being wrong to fix it, are in response to the people saying they can't believe ebay sided with the seller.

The OP has already acknowledged that his own honesty probably acted against him in this instance.

Yes, through Ebay.. guess i'm just too honest for my own good lol.

Why buy a laptop all the way from America when there is an abundant number of them being sold here

Why did you modify it? Why didn't you send it back when you realised it was faulty? Would you expect to buy a PC from a shop, open it up, swap some components around and then say "sorry, I'm finished fiddling with it, I want my money back?"

I did not open it until the seller agreed to it.

Anyhow, seems this seller is well protected:

Hello rxxxxx,

Recently, you opened a case for Dell Precision M6500 i7-820QM 1.73 GHz Quad 8GB RAM 500GB HDD NVIDIA NO OS . We also received the Feedback you left for the transaction, but it's been removed from the seller's Feedback Profile because of a recent decision on the case.

You can always view the case details in the Resolution Centre or learn more about eBay Feedback policies.

Just to say that paypal gave me half of the money back as a goodwill gesture as i've been a customer for 10+ years. Will recoup the rest from selling off the memory and hard drives etc...
