Unchartered on PC

The combat looks as boring as ever. They are great games with a good story and characters, but the combat becomes really repetitive after a while. Looks like the new one is almost identical in this regard.

I'll probably pick up a PS4 when they released a slim version for a cheaper price at some point like I did with PS3.

Same here, can't deny the cinematic quality of the set pieces....but I felt like most of the game was just watching a pre-defined animation play out listening to a lot of grunting and heavy breathing.

TLOU though....pure class :) Can't wait for that sequel.

Thread title makes me laugh though. Unchartered 6 : When Accountants Go Bad

The Last of Us is a top game, a lot better than Uncharted IMO. I hope it never gets a sequel though because it had one of the most perfect endings I've ever seen, so far removed from the same tired "they saved the world" or "everything went south" scenarios.

I don't think a sequel with the same protagonists would work. On the other hand, I can't imagine TLOU without Ellie and Joel because they are both probably my favourite characters of all time. I'd rather ND left this gem of a game in peace. I don't want to see it transform into another Uncharted which has great graphics/set pieces but is getting staler and staler with each subsequent release.

Couldn't agree with you more. I hope they leave it well alone.

But from a business perspective I don't see how they can. It'll sell like crazy. Which is a shame because I agree with all the points you made.

The Joel and Ellie story was so good and ended in such a perfect way that any additional games would just spoil it. But a Last of Us game without those two? Whilst I'm sure it would be a great game - it just wouldn't be the same. Eeeeh I don't know.

Rumor has it there is A last of us 2 in the works; ND said Joel and Ellie's story is done with this game - but they did say they felt there were a lot more stories they could tell in the last of us world.

I just got my copies of uncharted back sep for the first game so I can play through them again before uncharted 4......will be picking up PS4 for that and few other games I want on it.

I got massive PC to play games on but I'll scum around with the console peasents also once in awhile ;)

Oh yeah I wouldn't want just a straight up Joel and Ellie sequel...that story was perfect as is, with the Left Behind bits as well.

Loads of room for new games in the world though. There's a huge gap between the intro and the main game starting, years of time during the collapse of society and fireflies emerging etc. Then there's the individual stories, Joel's brother, the black dude and his kid, even stuff like the smuggler thugs at the start. The game was definitely too good and too successful to not spawn follow ups of some kind.

The game has always sounded good but I’ll never know because it has pigeon-holed itself to a single platform. There’s no shortage of good games these days so it’s not as if I’m going to buy a PS just to play it. If they take money to tie themselves to one platform then that's their business but they're obviously going to miss out on the wider market and on the true potential of the game. I do wonder though, how many people would only buy a PS because unchartered is PS-exclusive, or only buy an Xbox because Forza is X-box exclusive, it feels like marketing contrived flim-flam by Microsoft and Sony – money over art, sad but true.

Surely the developers and gamers would be better off it these supposedly-brilliant games were available to all gamers? As good as these games allegedly are, I know they could always be even better on PC (e.g. GTA 5 on console vs. PC). I’m sure they are being well paid for it but they are holding themselves back and are not contributing to the wider Gaming world. It’s like Leonardo da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa and then ensuring that only Italians were allowed to look at it! How sad, insular and small-minded.

They're not "taking money", the studio has been owned by Sony for nearly 15 years. They don't seem to be having any trouble with realising the true potential of their games by building them for a single platform.

Many do, exclusives are pretty-much the main reason to choose one console over another because in all other ways they're relatively similar. Games like Uncharted and The Last of Us are system-sellers, pure and simple. Many people bought PS3s when TLoU was first released and and many bought PS4s when it was remastered.

See above. They have no responsibility for the "wider gaming world", it's business, and a business owned by one of the platform-holders at that.
