Hi Guys,

Okay so I recently ordered the 24" AOC 144hz but I think its going straight back as theres a better deal for the 27" version for like £20 more but my question is this once this ones gone back as I literally just ordered it so it should be fine to send back which of the two below should I go with or is there something similar in the same price range worth getting.

I see everyone rave over G-SYNC so heres the ones im considering getting as its what I originally got and just going up to 27"

at £209.99 it'll cost me £30 to go up.

or this

which will cost me like £140.

the money difference between the two isn't really important its more is it worth getting G-SYNC.

I have as you can see in my Sig a Nvidia 980ti thanks guys I await your responses! :)

Okay now even more confused.. actually thinking off it maybe 144hz and G-Sync is better for people who play FPS games all of the time?

I don't i mainly play MMORPG Games or Strategy games games like

Elder Scrolls Online
Lineage 2
World of Warcraft style games
and games that are similar to the likes of dawn of war, or command and conquer

would I be better off with an IPS monitor with a 60hz refresh rate that has far better picture for my mmorpgs?

its very occassional ill play a shooter please help! :)

I wouldn't say g-sync for 1080p is worth it for that card if you're worried about frames smoothing out. However, if you abhor tearing then it may be worth it.

gsync from my personal experience with an asus rog swift is best between 45-60 fps so if you playing games where you drop below 60 from time to time then perhaps its worth it.. but if you can maintain above 60 at all time then the benefits starts to diminish pretty quickly imho. The add'd module just cost to much at this point to not care about the price.

I would rather have proper colors with no shifting and lock the fps to 60 than paying extra for a TN panel with gsync.

hmm i may just do that tbh! would you say the dell ultrasharps are very good ive heard people rave about them tbh, and was thinking ionly really play MMORPG's its very occassional these days I play a shooter and I mean what if i get back into them then ill just go buy a 144hz monitor as the 2ndry! :) then atleast I get nice pretty colours on my main monitor im assuming my graphics card will be perfectly fine with 1440p on this monitor?

I have an asus ( Not Gsync ) and to be honest I hardly ever notice tearing unless I've accidentally set the monitor to 60hz on a first install. Never noticed it in BF4 or Skyrim, so for me I wouldn't see much point in Gsync for the massive cost. Nearly £500 for a 27" monitor is just crazy

Individual sensitivity to tearing varies. I can see it readily on any 144Hz monitor when the frame rate departs from that value. Or more specifically I see the 'juddering' effect that the misaligned partial frames cause on the screen. I am equally sensitive to stuttering, which sensitive users such as myself can notice readily even on 144Hz monitors running under 144fps.

@ 9dal39. G-SYNC is really one of those things you have to see in action for yourself. It's a real game-changer for some people whilst others may not really 'see' or 'feel' the benefit. I'd recommend reading some of my reviews of G-SYNC monitors if you haven't already as I feel they will give you the best taste of what it can bring to the table short of using one yourself. Then again, given the games you play I don't feel the benefit would really be enough to warrant the cost or other sacrifices you'd have to make.

.

When I had the Samsung 60hz 5ms monitor, it was horrific! You couldn't move the mouse once without a tear rippling across the screen. Vsync on was the only option.

ps I will be going G-Sync too, but not at these prices

Absolutely, on a 60Hz monitor the effects associated with tearing are a lot more noticeable. :)

I've got used to playing BF4 lately with 144Hz gsync enabled but FPS capped to 125 (which with some settings sacrificed I can hold most of the time on my setup) I take multiplayer FPS gaming a bit seriously so will drop some quality for more frames and now I've started to get a bit used to it - don't think I'd be going back to non-gsync now without a little sadness though its not as day and night as 120Hz over 60Hz for me.

I have an overclocked 290 and it's very comfortable when gaming at this resolution. 2560x1440 should be a walk in the park for a GTX980Ti.
