Hi Guys,

just got a 5820k and popped on a Corsair H100iGTX and wondered what temps i should be getting before i overclock.

ATM while playing games i get 41c when i run prime 95 they went upto 64c (Full fan speed) 72c (normal fan). my friend says if they hit 80 thats when i have problems is that right?

no,its fine mid 80c is acceptable when stress testing

Correct! 85c is usually the limit for stress testing, however if the heat is too much the CPU will let you know any way by throttling :D

Your game temps are perfect by the way

You guys did see he said BEFORE an OC, seems alittle high to me at stock with such a good cooler i would have expected high 60's maybe low 70's not 80 degree's (what are your temps at normal gaming not while stressing), maybe it will settle a few degree when bedded in bu still. Do you have other paste sometimes re seating can help with temps.

When you do OC dont run prime just do what you would normally do with your comp being prime stable only mean your comp can run prime!

Prime is just another program that a stable system should be able to run, if it can't run Prime its not stable. Its also a program that gives good insight to the stability of the PC whereas most other everyday programs won't stress it that way. Is this regurgitated advice given by someone? I've been using prime and later IBT to stress systems going on 15+ years and never had instability due to hardware. Most unstable systems due to overclocks or faulty hardware will not pass prime.
