So I'll be moving out again in the upcoming weeks and i fancy getting a new TV for the living room as i currently have a 32" Samsung and feel that will be to small so ill be putting that in the bedroom.

I don't want to spend anymore than £500 I'm not bothered with 4K as correct me if I'm wrong there aren't to many thing broadcasting in 4K yet.

I've seen a few on offer from currys like the JVC LT-50C550 for £300 but surely its that cheap for a reason and the Panasonic Viera TX-50CS520B for £500

Any recommendations on what to get? I dont mind going down the refurbishment route as i know some people have picked up decent TVs from sonys outlet.

Samsung H6400 It has 3D which my not suit yourself. But its great on this TV and this model i have and its superb best tv ive ever owned its that good we got the 40" for our bedroom which is rigged up to our HTPC and BluRays look great on it. Richer sounds are doing it at £529 with 6 years guarantee at the moment

Yeah 3D would be wasted as ide never use it.

@ mattoxx I was just looking at that myself i might pop up to the panasonic shop on monday and have a look at some screens as i just found the panny TV i mentioned above for £350 refurbished.

We dont use the 3D feature much either but your getting a lot of tv for the money and won awards for 2014 i don't think you will get better for the £500 and with 6 years guarentee. But each to there own i guess

Remember the bigger the better. I just bought TX-55as650 for £520 from JL with 5 years guarantee.

Display model? JL's online price for that telly is £650.

OP, the 47" version of this telly is available from RS for £480, A bit smaller than what you want, but under your budget nonetheless.
