NVIDIA AIBs Silently Cut GTX 980 & 980 Ti Prices

Not at top tier.

2gb more ram faster... 400 or 499...

At this price point you buy the fastest.

I guess its a point of view. Personally I would save the hundred quid if it can still play everything I want smoothly on my monitor. I bet if you had 2 pcs side by side with a fury and ti running 1440 you'd be hard pushed to notice a difference. As for 1080p we all know its mostly poor overhead causing lower performance, but still managing 100fps + on a lot of games so I'm not poo pooing over that.

Constrained, the buggers are non existant :D

It would be nice if AMD made a statement about what is going on as it is all very odd.

The GTX 980 Ti was also in very short supply at launch and some people are still waiting for their cards but NVidia have still managed to ship very large amounts of the cards.

What is going on with the Fury X as OcUK just don't seem to be getting much stock at all even weeks after launch.

That's an 80/20 marketshare for ya!!! :D

This is nice, but when it will actually come into effect over here is anybody's guess.

Good news for the consumer though, could force an early AMD price cut on AMD fury and Fury X.

Fury would look mighty tempting at around £379 and £400 VS the 980 as it dominates the 980 in performance.

Fury X could drop to £450 and be worthy considering the water cooling.

Will Fury / Fury X ever be in stock to actually sell though? :P

I'm sure all of these cards from both camps are overpriced tbh. we've been on 28nm for about 50 years. Would love to know the BOM of some of these cards lol.

If I do grab a 980Ti, it will be the MSI Gaming. Had two of those now (290X and 970) and fantastic cards.

After the hassle with Fury X RMA etc. The MSI Gaming 980 Ti is a massive relief lol. Awesome card, temps / performance / noise levels are spot on.

The thing is you can apply the same logic and decide to save a little more and get the 980 regular and clock it up.

The Fury is an OK card, performance is on the curve, but it doesn't stand out above it. The risk is also that AMD are going to overcharge and ask more like 450 for it, in which the 980Ti is absolutely the best deal. AMD really need to be aggressive and get pricing down to 370 or so and force nvidia to price down. The problem is the Fury is much more expensive to make than the 980 and some heat more expensive to produce than the Ti so a pric war will really hurt AMD.

Surely if prices are dropping it's either demand waning or competition from AMD. Aside from the Fury range AMD also have the 300 series which are available. Common sense says If Nvidia was selling like hot cakes why on earth would they reduce prices?
