Hi

Was driving round Manchester today. Pulled into the car park felt a bump and the power steering went really heavy, didn't feal assisted at all. Got to a space and looked underneath, fluid is dripping down from around the middle of the car.

Red battery light came on the dash for a few seconds but the car sounds fine and starts no problem.

Hoping maybe a hose has come loose. I have bmw assistance so will ring them tomorrow morning. Are all them parts covered under the fully comp cover?

Did the drive belt snap, as the same belt likely drives the PS pump and alternator (hence battery light)? That wouldn't explain the leaking fluid though...

Fluid looked clean, olive colour but it was an underground car park. Could it be power steering fluid?

I didn't investigate as was on way to a wedding.

It was dripping quite frequent but not running but I didn't look for more than a minute

Went back to the car this morning. There is no pool of fluid. Looked under the bonnet and there is a belt mangled up.

I did have a squeaky pulley and the squeak has now gone so i think that may have failed. Hopefully covered under warranty!

What are bmw recovery like? I'm parked in a covered car park so don't think a recovery truck would get in.

What belts are classed as auxiliary under the warranty?

Thought i might update this with what happened now everything is sorted.

The auxiliary belt snapped, it also damaged some cooling pipes when it went, the belt snapped because of an oil leak causing the belt to deteriorate and eventually fail.

In the end they had the car for nearly 4 weeks, replaced the belt, cooling pipes, one of the belt pullys and fixed 3 oil leaks. They had to get a few parts shipped over from Germany also.

Oil leaks on the heat exchange(i cant remember proper what she said), one under the rocker cover and one around the sump which they had the gear box out.

The hire car costs went to nearly £2k, can't imagine the labour costs and two recoveries from road side

All the oil leaks were covered under warranty so i had to pay £500 at the end for the initial investigation the belt/pipes and £100 excess for the warranty.

Makes me glad i took the £79 per month warranty. Should prob cancel it now everything is sorted :p

Went for a run to the lakes this weekend and all is well.

I thought if they found a genuine cause then the investigation costs were covered under warranty? At least that's what happened when 3 of my 6 injectors were faulty on my old 335i and they sorted it. The car was fine no EML lights just very rough idle and I wanted them to find the cause. Didn't end up paying anythhing (0 excess).

Surprised they covered the belt and subsequent damage then, seeing as it was your negligence that caused the belt to snap.

There was a recall on faulty injectors on the 335i. Mine had 5 replaced, it wasn't a warranty issue as such.
