Hi, thanks for helping first of all :)

I currently have the anniversary Intel dual core chip (couldn't of been happy with it for the £, i think it's time I changed to an i7 though! :) I'm also in the market for a low budget 144Hz monitor, I'd actually prefer 22" but 24" will do just fine.

Ideally I'd love to stay below the £400-450 mark if possible, probably not :D

my current specs are:

8gb ddr3
radeon 285
intel g3258 <-- worth selling on to someone else for a few £?
Gigabyte Z97P-D3

i think the G3258 is socket 1150 LGA?

appreciate any time you take, thanks again

It would help if we knew what the main uses of this system will be.

Do you really need an i7. If you have been managing on a G3258, then an i5 would be a big improvement.

I ended up going for the i7! i don't plan to OC it for a while yet but i'll definitely grab one when I decide to do so, which would you recommend?

I have an Antec 902 (bit old but I do still love it!)

as for RAM i have:

TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01)

which I bought a while ago, will I require new? not a big deal if so, will grab some soon(if necessary)

Dont need new RAM.

If you are using the side panel fan then that limits your cooler choices to very low height ones or a simple 120mm AIO cooler will fit.

ok cheers, I was going to sell my g3258 but im gonna just throw a little machine together for streaming netflix etc in my gym room.

thanks everyone :)
