Picked up our new car on Saturday, A5 sportback in daytona grey with the black sports pack, unfortunately its just the 2.0 150bhp diesel version but alas thats life nowadays :d

Besides the badge etc - whats the difference between this and a A7? Just intrested cause if you hadn't said I would have sworn it was a A7?

whilst the sports pack makes them look a little alike the A7 is a completely different model / segment. The A7 is a BMW 6 series gran coupe rival whereas the A5 is the BMW 4 series gran couple rival :)

Fantastic looking car that love the alloys. I think that's the best looking colour on the Audi's that as 99% are black or white.
Just a shame about the engine, something that looks that good should have at least 200+ Bhp

Looks the looks but doesn't have the performance to match :p Looks sporty, but really pretty slow!

Nice looking car though.

no doubt, unfortunately its a family car so running costs etc are more important, also cars in ireland a lot more expensive than in england so 95% of audis, mercedes and bmw have 2.0 diesel engines :o

my days of m3s and the like are over :(

for now

Looks well mate.

So with it having a 150hp in diesel form - is it really "that" slow?

Only ask as I've been looking at chunky Audi's with 2.0 diesel engines but have yet to get my hands on one.

well its not fast, diesel feel a little faster because of the torque curve but when you look down at the speedo you see the truth :D

for what we need its fine, my wife commutes to work and the odd trip, with a baby etc i dont have the same time for driving for fun at the moment.

the mpg is excellent and its the lowest rate of road tax over here so its an economical car to run

It weighs 1.5T and has a 0-60 of > 9secs, so yes compared to other cars with a similar engine it is on the slow side (e.g. 2.0 TDi Focus is ~ 8 secs 0-60). Not dangerously slow though.

Looks really good, especially in that colour. Shame it's not a quattro, would make up for the low power.

For me these need 300bhp + and a V8 but then I am biased :p

Yeah but if I only had 150bhp to begin with, being a bit slower wouldn't bother me. At least I'd have good traction in the rain/snow :D

It is a completely different car - the A5 Sportback is an A4 hatchback whereas the A7 is an A6 hatchback. The A6 is on a completely different all new platform whereas the A4/5 is quite old now, so the A6/A7 is much different inside.

i toyed with the idea of getting an a6 instead of this but it didnt wow me, the interior is updated but the styling of the a5 still looks better to me personally.

The A4 is on a new B9 platform now isn't it? Admittedly the A5 is on the old B8 still but I think the new A5 coupe is due out soon.
