I noticed the other day that my GPU seems to be making a rather annoying whining sound during in-game menus and cut scenes.
I have only ever heard coil whine / capacitor squeal coming out of old televisions that were on the verge of death, never £500+ graphics cards. In fact, in all the dozen or so cards I have owned, I've never experienced this before.
Do I have reason to be concerned, or is this now classed as an acceptable quirk of modern GPU's?

Cheers
James.

As i found, my old 700w psu was no longer up to the job to power my ti without coil whine ... change the psu and issue resolved for me.

I was considering that as being a possible cause, but my PSU (EVGA Supernova NEX650G) is only six months old and was more than enough to power my dual sli set-up previously:(

Hard to say really, check out the psu review here...

And a quote from the review "In what will probably be one of the better aspects of testing today for the EVGA NEX650G, we see this unit passing our standard load tests. That said, at times that pass was not exactly inspiring "

Not saying that the psu can not do the job, but is does make you wonder going by the review.
