Ive never really got the 5 door coupe thing. What is different to a 2l diesel a4?

I get the a7 though as that is designed to be a 4 door and is sexy SD hell.

I really like the rear of the sportback A5 but the A7 rear looks awful!

Nothing - it's just a different bodyshape, the A5 Sportback is a more practical hatchback variant of the A4, which is only available as a Saloon or an Estate.

Quick search says you can get 30hp and 80nm on the 2.0 diesel

BMW do it too. 4 series is the 2 door version of the 3 series, but there's a 5 door version of the 4 series which looks nearly identical to the 3 series...but there's also a 5 door 3 series in the form of the GT :/

Indeed everyone seems to do it now though. There's so much crossover in ranges but I feel Audi is the worst.

It used to be there were 5 classes

A1 - Small Hatch
A3 - Big Hatch
A4 - Small Saloon
A6 - Big Saloon
A7 - Big Ass Saloon

Now though you can get a 5 door A1 that seems the same size as an A3, an A3 saloon which looks like an A4, without getting into the whole 5 door version of a 2 door version of a 4 door thing they have going on!

5 door A1 is basically the same size as the 3 door A1, not same size as the A3 at all.

In terms of size, yes. But different car otherwise.
