I was going to get an SSD for my ps4 but they are not really supported. It only uses sata 2 or something so won't get that great a speed. The sshd is a good choose though.
 
wow, this is so expensive and not so long time ago I wondered when SSD will came out with a higher capacity and here we go it, it even wasn't 4 months and bum, we have a 2TB SSD xD Anyway of a price of 2TB SSD, I can get a 3x8 TB HDD which in total is 24TB and that only costs £554.97, just saying so don't hate.

Just so to say, SSD is the same as HDD but faster so you can use it with everything what does uses SATA II and I'm assure you and asume that you can use SSD with a new gen console as well.

Nice, bit too rich for my blood at the moment. Bought a 1TB Evo when you had the offer on though Gibbo.

I know you can use it but you will not get the speeds advertised. I have read reviews for SSDs for ps4 and they give about half the speed they should because they are on an older sata. The SSHDs was about 0.5% slower than the SSDs they tested.

SSDs connected to sata 2 ports get 270mb read and 270mb write. I have the 850 evo 250GB connected to a sata 2 port and they are the speeds I get on my PC.

still notice a big difference in games etc
 
This is the future, but not at these prices. I wonder how many years until we see a 2TB SSD around £60, the price of a good HDD? ;)
 
Yes Samsung, well done for pushing things forward and nice one Gibbo on competing, hopefully you can hold it and cause a price war :p.

Just need some competition in the 2TB space now to drive prices down. You can get two 1TB 850 EVOs for a smidge over £500. A £100 premium for the highest capacity is a bit much on an already expensive drive.

This is the start of bigger cheaper SSDs though so it's exciting to see. We don't see sub 500GB HDDs anymore, that's what we need to see happen with SSDs. Lose the sub 500GB capacities and lower the prices accross the board.

One of our systems are work sits on a server made up of SSD's.
The cost they must have paid for it is crazy.

But then we just get a system that sits in-memory (4TB of RAM)... money was spent. :eek:

Glad that large capacity SSD's are coming along (I remember paying £140 for a 120GB SSD!), & looking forward to the prices coming down. :D

I doubt it, you can't limit SATA II speed just because you can and want it. So if you use SSD it should use all it's all power in read/write during gameplay.

Yeah but notice that D1craig is talking about current gen consoles which are different from computers and shouldn't have such limit but still .....

I asume another 5 years and we will be having normal prices for SSD's. Tho I wonder how long we will wait untill new technology came out which will surpass the speed of SSD's. :D

Wait, what ? 4TB of RAM ? O_o (That machine must be doing crazy **** right there, lol).

When I bought my first PC with 500 GB SSD it was for around £130 and 250 GB is for around £70 so prices are definitely going down, slowly and slowly.

Bit pricey - could never stomach this sort of price on storage. However, lovely to see SSDs this size appearing. Once the price drops I will definitely be purchasing. Nice one gib
 
T4HO - I was going to buy an SSD for my ps4 so I checked some reviews about it. The general consensus was an SSD is a fair bit faster than the stock drive but only slightly faster than an SSHD and them differences are only noticed on games that are downloaded not games running from the disc. You don't see nearly the same performance increase as you do in a PC.

Check some comparisons out. It would save you more money getting an SSHD.
Maybe when the consoles get a revision they will add better data support.
