Prince Philip asks women: 'Who do you sponge off?'

It's funny how when it's royalty saying it then it just gets laughed off, but when Joe Public posts such things on Twitter there's a massive sexism backlash.

He's brilliant. He's as crass, racist and sexist as Hitler was jewophobic and he never fails to deliver. Anyone who gets offended by him should probably get out more. As long as he sticks to stereotypical comments, he's a-ok in my book. The rest of the royals are as exciting as lukewarm custard.

Lumpy?

Moments later he asked a professional fundraiser: "Do you have any friends left?"

nice humour

well they thought so

Nusrat Zamir, who founded the organisation, said: "The Duke said to us 'Who do you sponge off?' We're all married so it's our husbands.

"He was just teasing and it's similar to what I call my husband - the wallet."

They met Martin Shaw from the fundraising company Midas, who said: "It was quite funny because when I told the Duke I was a professional fundraiser he said 'Do you have any friends left?'.

usual story the people he spoke to thought it was funny, press make it out as offensive and people rage.

Was close enough when they got off the train at my local station during the Jubilee tour or whatever it was to see the look in his eyes when he was making similar kind of comments - he was blatantly trolling.

An old friend was married to someone who worked for a charity that Philip attended a fundraiser for.

On the recieving line, he was asked by Philip what he did for the charity and he answered "I'm married to the Managing Directors PA" so he said "Ah, you're here sponging are you?" shook his hand and moved to the next person :D

Very funny man.
