£700 Gaming PC spec

Hi,

Last christmas you guys helped me spec a gaming pc for myself. Now my little brother wants one aswell. Lots of the stuff I used seems to have gone up in price (I probably bought it on offer) or doesn't exist on the site anymore.

Would you be so kind to help out again?

What he wants:

A gaming Pc for games such as GTA5 and Battlefield 4. He doesn't need an OS, mouse, keyboard, monitor or speakers. His budget is £700. He is hoping for something similar performance wise to mine (He can't have a better rig than me, I can't allow that

Could I scrap the 1tb hard drive altogether, he has a laptop he can store all his files and music on, this pc will only be for a few games so 250gb will be enough.

You can do away with the HDD, but that gfx card you picked aint much better..its just a 4Gb version of a gpu thats fine with 2Gb.

so he wants a better gpu. I have no idea what i am looking for. Would it be a r9 290x? but they all seem to be at least a hundred pounds more. What about a 280x if i could get my hands on one?

Current prices of the 290X are not worth it when a GTX970 is its equal and cheaper.

R9 390 start at £260 and are a refresh of the R9 290 with 8GB.
