In the past few days I sometimes have problems with getting on Overclockers website either the shop front page or forum, it normally works and then at random times when I click on some link which naviagte through whole forum/website it starts to load and load which can take forever and most of the time it times out but soon after timing out like 15 - 20 minutes it's loading normally. O_o
Yesterday I even received the following Database error:

I don't think that it's problem on my side since when this is happening all other websites and internet services are working correctly. Is it just me or does it happens to other people here too ?

I find that it's most likely to slow down at around midnight. Usually, it's very snappy for me, like some of the members on here. :D

I get quite amount of "this page cannot be loaded", but a refresh it appears right away. I always assumed it's quite busy and therefore doesn't always load right away.

It has been doing this for years. The forum software is rather outdated and I assume the servers are still running the same poor Russian hamsters that started everything years ago as well. I haven't had Haribo the past few times I have ordered, so they've obviously been feeding it to them in a hope that the sugary goodness may cause an increase in productivity, but alas here we are.

I think what is needed is coffee with Red Bull instead of water.

This forum must earn them a few quid surely?
Someone asks for a build with £1K budget, someone like Stulid makes a basket, forum user buys all bits from OCUK

Yeah they got some money out of it but it's probably going for people who works at Overclockers (wages) and they don't want to upgrade because why they should ? Anyway they could open a section for donations for new server or something like this, I would definitely donate some money for a new server if it would improve current speed and security in the way. Anyway I don't know what you saying about builds but I like day or two ago posted for a build and still waiting and couple other users, Stulid isn't that active from what I have noticed lately.

I'm not sure it's direct sales that make them the most money (like Stulid's posts), rather the fact they have a community of people who use the forum, knowing the name and having regular access and therefore are more likely to buy from OCUK. It's actually a good and relatively cheap marketing tool!

The forum software is probably near enough up to date, it is only the template that some would call dated. I like it though. I hate the current influx of all this web 2.0 (is it even called that now?) stuff all over the web, like flashy continuous scrolling websites etc. Basic old school is best. :)

Every night at midnight, on the dot, this forum dies for me, and its the only site that does it, it either just hangs with the loading circle going, or i get that database message, and it only does it for 3 minutes, as as soon as the clock strikes 00:03, it comes back to life, so every night a midnight now, i just browse other sites for 3 minutes, while waiting for this one to come back.

Its well odd. :p

Probably backing up to another server.

Yeah around midnight here as well I get the server not responding message, happens like clockwork every single night. Presumably a backup or something going on at that time?
