Hi guys, looking at adding 2 more fans to my system (on intake in the bottom, one exhaust in the top) as atm I only have 2 intake and 1 exhaust. I currently have Fractal R2 140mm fans in, however you can't buy them anymore. Does anyone know of a fan thats similar in performance and noise at 12 and 7v as those fans? I will connect them all up to a 12/7/5v fan controller and wish for the noise of all fans to be similar at all voltages.
They run at (advertised specs so be wary I guess)

12V
RPM: 1000
CFM: 66.0
MMH20: 0.84
dBa: 18.5

7V
RPM: 800
CFM: 52.8
MMH20: 0.54
dBa: 14.9

Either that, or fans that you think would compliment them well?
I would just go for the R3 silent series, but from their own advertised specs the R3 fans are nowhere near as good as the R2 ones somehow.

@12v quoted stats, from my 'Little Book Of PC Fans':

Noctua NF-P14 FLX Vortex
RPM: 1200
CFM: 64
MMH20: 1.29
dBa: 19.6

Noctua NF-P14 FLX
RPM: 1200
CFM: 68
MMH20: 1.51
dBa: 19.2

Enermax Everest UCEV14
RPM: 1200
CFM: 69
MMH20: 1.13
dBa: 15

Noctua NF-A14 PWM
RPM: 1500
CFM: 82
MMH20: 2.08
dBa: 24.6

Enermax T.B.VEGAS UCTVD14A
RPM: 1500
CFM: 90
MMH20: 1.77
dBa: 15 (apparently...!)

Others have better performance, but go as high as the upper 40s in dB, though!

Thanks for the info

Looking at the Noctua NF-P14s 1200 atm

Nice, but a smidge expensive (even though they are the redux version! :o)

I am not an airflow expert but do you think two of these would be good in my case?
Would it be better to upgrade my current 3 fans to better fans or just buy 2 of these to add to them?

6 year warranty, though... :)

Personally, I'd go all-out on 5 Noctuas and keep the Fractals for... something. Spare fans, maybe, or just sell them.
I'd pack every available mount with a fan - Many fans running slowly tends to work out better and quieter than fewer fans running fast. Also, the bigger the fan, the more air moved at lower volumes.. generally. But you're already going 140mm over 120mm, so that's getting there.

A lot depends on your case characteristics and personally acceptable noise levels. My own seems to prefer Airflow fans that have a leaning toward Static Pressure for anywhere with meshes/grilles/HD cages, but while they are still quiet as is, the noises combine and it can seem bloody loud on full-chat, for example.

Some people feel that there are no decent 140mm fans, while others have hit the top of the overclocking tables here using airflow fans where you'd normally expect static pressure ones.

I generally adopt a try-it-and-see approach.
However, one thing I can honestly say since dropping a bomb on the very expensive, non-REDUX version of nine Noctuas - I don't regret it in the slightest!

Ultimately, your call.
I think getting just the two for now will be a good start, as you'll increase your airflow capacity and you can always change the Fractals out later if you feel the need... Maybe once you get the Noctuas, swap both brands around and see what difference it makes.

I second the noctua route aswell, decked my rig out in them, very happy with performance, noise and build quality

Are those Noctuas any good for rads?
The P14's are ok for rads, sadly not a lot of choice for 140mm rad fans.If you can wait out for a little while EK have some 140mm vardars coming soon, they will prob be the best 140mm rad fans when they come to market

I used to love noctua. At one point I had 9 of them but when I built my watercooled system I couldn't afford to buy 6 NF-F12s so bought some £3 Artic cooling fans. They were better than the noctuas I had and I have slowly replaced and sold all of my noctua stuff (whilst turning a profit).

Maybe years ago they were great but other companies do just as well for a whole lot less money.
