Do you need a flagship phone?

Still happy with my moto g, would be happier if it had 2gb of ram but aside from that its perfect and I won't be replacing it until the battery life starts to get poor.

Mine is freezing all the time, have to reboot etc.

Battery is fine though.
 
I think I'll keep my Nexus 5 for a few more years, that is if I can fix the utterly frustrating 'optimising apps' error.

Even my 15 year old brother has a better phone than me these days, but I don't use mine for much tbh. Social media, camera and Clash of Clans... that's really about it. :o
 
There's just one thing that bugs me about my Z3 Compact. The flap over the charging port. If it had the Z3 Plus's waterproof USB port then I don't think I'd be likely to upgrade any time soon. The phone is fast enough, the camera is decent enough and the casing is hard-wearing enough that I'm not likely to find any other reason to upgrade. The phone does what I need it to do.

It'll be interesting to see what manufacturers can come up with going forward to combat tech apathy. They need to keep selling phones, but I get the impression that Joe Public is less and less interested because their current handsets are simply 'good enough'.

Mine has been converted to GPE since it was a year old (Dec 2014) and aside from the odd stutter in menu animations runs perfectly. Battery is still good but noticeably worse than when it was new.

No. I went to the store the other day to look at phones to replace my 3 year old HTC One X and came away with a Galaxy A3. Perfect size, good screen, well made and cheap. The problem with most flagship phones, for me anyway, is the sheer size of the things. I wanna be able to stick it in my jeans pocket and be able to sit down comfortably.
 
Using a Nokia 735 & very happy with it, I've had all the past Samsung flagships upto the Note 4 & a couple of iPhones but realized I'm just wasting vast amount of money that can be put to better use.

With the past flagships i had I never really used them to their full potential, I did exactly the same on those as i can easily do on a Nokia 735 ie text call, listen some music, use facebook ect.

I never watched movies or game on my phone, i do like to take pictures & odd video and the Nokia 735 isn't to bad for quick snapshots, but I've now started to take my Sony HX50 with me on days out as picture quality & video from this camera is leagues ahead off any current flagship smartphone inc the S6 Note 4 ect.

tbh they are probably at the stage now where even the midrange performs well enough for me and as long as they don't lag should do me for a while - my biggest problem is when you get a decent device which, as the updates come, gets slower and slower (nexus 7 i'm looking at you!)
My next move will be to something smaller - nicest sized phone I had was an htc hero, really wish someone would put up to date tech in a body like that
 
Some parts like the cameras are much better on the higher end devices, and since I don't own real cameras its a huge bonus. Performance is a bit better too, and the higher end devices mostly look/feel better.
 
I'll buy one every couple of years. But never on launch anymore. Wait a few months for the price to drop.

Just no need for a new phone every year anymore, there just isn't big enough advancements currently.
 
I don't spend more than £150 on a phone, so for me, no.

I currently have a Lumia 640 XL LTE dual sim which was £135, and a first gen Moto-G which was just over £100, and both do everything I need just fine.
 
I'm still using without any trouble a 5c that work provided me with on launch day or there abouts. Does everything I need it to, robust and excellent camera so no need for anything newer.

I don't really think anyone actually "needs" a flagship phone. It's all about want.

This is the line that is bottom line work phone (only saw one today for first time)
A5 think it was.. Haven't even seen the A line before

I used to upgrade yearly but since buying a Note 3 on release I have had no desire to.

The phablet design was the last feature worth buying into and phones seem to retain snappy performance even after two years which was not the case a few years ago.
 
I tend to just buy phones off the members market now.

You get them at dirt cheap prices, in mint condition and they are usually flagship too.

Some people on here upgrade their phones every month or two it seems which is great for us that like a bargain.
 
i got the Xperia Z2 for £300 when my wife dropped my nexus 5 as it was on sale with the Z3 being out and being nearly £500, specs are almost identical with a few differences.

i only wanted it for the PS4 remote play and the battery life and water resistance are a big plus.

my contract is due in a few months and the plan is to go sim only with a cheap data plan and next to no min or txt.
 
Never understood the people on here who upgrade every few months. Must have more money than sense.

My s6 will be with me for at least two years. Maybe more this time as I just can't see how they can improve the smartphone much more in its current guise.
