980 v 980Ti v 980 SLI @ 1440p

I recently went through the process of deciding the best GPU setup for my ROG Swift. Personally, I settled on a MSI 980Ti 6G Gaming. However, I did a little bit of testing during the process so I thought I would share for others to view.

Depends if you have them but for me it would be gta5, and project cars, dirt rally 2015,fc4

As i haven't played any of these games yet.

Great effort, thanks. I will use this to compare with my 290X as I am deliberating between upgrading to a 980Ti or waiting for the next gen cards.

Yes, returned due to very noticeable coil whine. I've now got the MSI 6G and it's a cracking card.

Shadow of Mordor and GTA can well exceed the 4GB Vram @ 1440.

Unlike SLI, single cards are always supported (except Ubisoft titles ).

Cooling SLI setups is costly (water).

The performance increase from a single 980 to the Ti is not too shabby.

It really comes down to the resolution here for me. I have retained one of the 980s for my 2nd rig and it's perfect at 1080p. Running the SLI @ 1440p, I really did get sick of the stuttering, juddering and lack of support.

i still cant make my mind up to swap out the 980 sli for a ti, the sell of the 980's should cover the cost of a decent 980 ti, im not having any problems with the 980's at 3440x1440 but cant help feeling the tx and ti are perfect for this res due to the ram but mabe im reading too much into it

Remember your 980 will be valued less, even more so if 4GB of Vram becomes a real problem.
