I have a million £ and want to give you some of it....

Presuming that this is offered to multiple persons and there's no bar on them contacting each other, the sensible thing would have course be to form a syndicate, pick all available numbers and agree to share any winnings.

with independent draws you'd likely make the most by contacting the other 99, forming your syndicate and all picking 50

Where do people live where they can get a house + a car for £200k?! 2 bed flats are around £230k where I live and I've seen them going for 45k above the asking price.

I'd go for 50.

Up North! :P

Houses start at £100k in my village. Even mine, going abck 16 years, was only £95k and that was 4 bedroom semi detached with 6 acres of pasture and woodland!

Yup up in the boring North!

Not a whole lot to do up here but it's cheap for housing

My wife wants to move down south though...

I'd not pick any number.

If you wanted to make an impact on a lucky someone's life, I'd suggest looking around and finding someone who'd really benefit. That, or employing someone for something.
If you just wanted some fun, I'd suggest gambling... preferably against someone who, again, could benefit from the win. Set up a private game and match their stake, say 1000:1, so for every quid they bet they stand to take a grand off you.

Beyond that, keep your money and find something productive to do with it, or just give away whatever value you felt like and watch happily as the lucky soul bettered their own life.

^^ ????

it is a hypothetical question

if it helps then suppose the OP has a gun to your head and is forcing you to pick a number

or just consider that if you want the money to go to someone else then you also have the option to do that yourself by winning the money and giving it away

For £10k I could have a fantastic holiday, so to be honest I could settle on 1. However given that this is a game of raw odds, I suppose it would be irresponsible to settle for such a small sum when the odds favour you at£ £200k.

I think I'd probably settle on 20. 1/5 chance of winning is pretty good odds.

And hypothetically, I'd not play, still suggesting the above.

Disarm OP, drop them to floor, disable and hold in place while placing under arrest, before summoning support to detain and remove both OP and weapon... or just shoot them if they continued to present a threat. :D

Or, since this is hypothetical, use my Jedi Powers to change their mind and make them give ALL their money to charity. :p

or just consider that if you want the money to go to someone else then you also have the option to do that yourself by winning the money and giving it away
Fine, I pick whatever calibre the gun is and walk away. Crazy, rich nutters...!! :p

I live in Stoke-on-Trent. An ordinary 2 bedroom house in a reasonable part of the city can be had for as little as £60K.

Here's an example - it's in a quiet cul-de-sac half a mile from the city centre. I know the road - given the houses on it, the 3 bedrooms will be due to the larger bedroom being converted into 2 small ones, so I'd count it as a 2 bedroom house. Standard old terraced housing, but they're adequate and a lot cheaper than £230K

Sold for £56K 8 months ago and that's a normal price around there.

The big drawback is that you have to live in Stoke-on-Trent :)

2

99% chance of winning and 20k is all i really need to be sorted for the forseeable future, would clear any debt i have and get things sorted for me and the family.

20, if i was feeling lucky but 200k would lead to a very comfortable life in my current situation.
