Hello!

My machine turned it self off last night and refuses to turn back on. However, all of the power indicators are there. When turning on the mains, the usual LEDs flash/light up etc. such as my keyboard's lights, all as normal. Upon pressing the standby button to boot, within the first instant, something ticks and the machine remains powered off and the lights on the graphics card and CPU cooler turn off again.

Have been using this for a year, so I expect something has gone pop but I don't know what.

I am woefully short of tools and other parts to swap/try out, so going for a long shot: Anyone recognise these symptoms?

Seems strange,could be anything tbh

Could try to narrow things down, could test without GPU and use igpu

Also take out the CMOS battery for 10 minutes then put back in and try, you'll lose your oc settings BTW

If you could try with a spare PSU as well just to rule that out, seems like its cutting out when the pcneeds power to bootup

Unfortunately I don't have a spare PSU to try, though I too suspect it is at fault. Mighty shame though, it's 1000w beast which I specifically bought knowing it was overkill to try and keep temps down.

I'm not OC'ing so reseting CMOS isn't a problem, will give that a whirl.

e: CMOS reset didn't help.

Do you get any POST codes on the red LED readout ? Cant quit see on the video as I think they are at the very top. If not then sounds like the board has gone pop or maybe the PSU. If you had faulty RAM/GPU/CPU then you would get someway through the POST codes on the LED readout if not then its not even getting to POST and would suggest motherboard/PSU is the issue.

From the video at first glance I would say PSU. I think you are going to have to hedge your bets Motherboard or PSU - 50 50 chance. If I were you I`d buy a ten quid PSU tester and take it from there. Might save you a bit of money.
Oh just a thought you have tried switching it on with the power on button on the motherboard havent you to rule out dodgy case on/off button ?

Agree. Dont you have a local pc store that fixes pc's they may let you a powersuply for testing for small charge or test it for you. My local pc store in Plymouth did test it for me right away for £15 and it turned out it was dead psu.

Didn't need to go to a shop in the end. Pulled it apart just now and have discovered it was the GFX card which shall be getting RMAd very shortly. Thanks all for your help. :)
