Afternoon Gents,

I have been told that this is the place to come for expert advice on all things computer related.

I am an absolute novice with computers and their components. However, I have £800 to spend on a nice upgrade, if anyone could help me out with a decent rig I would be appreciate it.

I have all peripherals, a monitor and have recently bought a GeForce MSI 750 TI GFX card, so I don't need a gfx card either. I also have a copy of windows so that isn't needed either.

I use my PC for CS:GO and DayZ as well as watching movies and sports.

Thanks in advance!

Hello & welcome .

That's not the best graphics card but will do for those games I guess.

Yo!

THanks for getting back to me with a few options, thanks - really appreciate it.

I hear what you are saying about the GFX card but with these setups will I be in a position to upgrade my GFX within 6-12months if I need to ?

Also - which one of those would you recommend, im reading them all and taking it all in but its not helping me make my mind up or recognise the differences haha!

I would swap I7 4790k for I5 4690k as there is no difference in games maybe 1fps but I think this is just error made in testing? This will save you about £60 which you can put towards gpu or better quality components. The only reason to get I7 4790k is if you are streaming or rendering videos. I wouldn't make same mistake that I did when I purchased my I7 4770k, I though it will make difference in gaming but it will never do due to way games are using cpu.

Also do you need M.2 drive 256gb? As you can get Samsung or Crucial ssd 256gb for about £80 which also will save you money and do same purpose?

About graphic card what is budget? It's always best to ask before you buy about 1 month as it changes all the time, the pricing. Hope this helps.

I'd recommend the i5-4690K instead of the i7, you'd need an i7 if you had an SLI setup (and you won't). Might as well save the cash for a GPU in the future. I'd also advise against the M.2 drive, and go for a standard SATA one. No point in blowing extra cash on a standard which is still in its infancy. A 250GB: Samsung 850 Evo, Crucial BX100 or SanDisk Extreme Pro, would be much better and price effective choices. Also, get the 3TB Seagate Barracuda, it gives you an extra TB for cheaper. The power supply, I would highly recommend to get an EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W or 850W one; the SuperNOVA is one of the highest, if not highest, rated supplies out there (SuperFlower rebrand).

With all the cash saved you could easily buy a GTX 970 or even the GTX 980 Ti (if you decide to make the move to 4K, and trust me, it is worth it). I'd also go for 4x4GB of RAM as DDR3 is dirt cheap at the moment, and 16GB is more than enough forever. 8GB could see some issues (aka GTA V).

No problem, yes of course with a powerful 750W PSU a GPU upgrade won't be a problem ;)

Well I'll break it down for you, apart from the second one looking aesthetically better :p

1st build has slightly faster RAM, not that you will notice it anyway :) Also a slightly better case when it comes to watercooling support, but that's not much of an issue anyway with the spec including an air cooler.

Second build has a better CPU cooler, which looks cooler (ha) as well.

Hope this helps :)

I don't suppose you could list this up for me like has been done above ?

Just so I can see exactly what id be looking at in terms of components and price, as Im a little confused after reading your post - for no other fact than you have to treat me like an 8yr old with this stuff haha

I'd stick with a M.2 SSD as it will be up to 2 or 3 times faster than a SATA SSD, and trust me that will be noticeable. Your budget allows so may as well make the most of it.

Also nothing wrong with the PSU I listed as it is made by Seasonic, gold rated and fully modular :) Not to forget the reasonable price.
