Best router to replace a fibre BT Home Hub 5?

Budget?
What features are you looking for?

I have BT home Hub 5 fibre with 75 mg speed. Want better wifi. The BT hub is crap. I have to use extenders. Just want a over all better router with good wifi range and good support.

£200

I hear the NETGEAR D7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Simultaneous Dual-Band VDSL/ADSL2+ WiFi Router is really good. Getting nearly 5 stars in a few reviews.

Not too sure, I use the RT-N66U myself, never had an issue. Not sure if the D7000 can do the modem bit so look for a HG612 on eBay.

Don't know much about routers or modems.

I have a BT Home Hub 5 on my desk with a white box until underneath my desk? So the HomeHub 5 is the router and the white box under my desk is the modem? Is that right?

So I guess all I would need is a good router right???

What's on the white box? Is it cabled to the HH5? I was under the impression the HH5 can do the modem bit so it's strange if you have a modem still, but a bonus if you do as you could easily upgrade to an RT-N66U.

The D7000 is a modem/router

and compared to the hh5 is has no problems.

Only had our for the day but so far its stable and have had no problems with the wifi connection going through 3 floors etc.

Well that's odd, I thought the HH5 was also a VDSL modem as well, removing the need for the white modem.

Oh well, that just opens far more choices for you. Either the Netgear Nighthawk routers or Asus RT-AC routers will do just fine with that high budget. I would be more tempted to go router only, and use it with the BT white modem, it seems to be the most stable for fibre broadband.

I'm currently using the Asus RT-AC68U, and it's been rock solid with very good wifi range. Not sure how it compares with the HH5, but compared to the HH3 I had before, it's a lot better :p.

We had the BT HH3 and white box (pictured), we acquired a HH5 but we're still using the white box too.

Me also. When fibre was first installed I had home hub 3 then bought a hub 5 on the net, but still use white boxed modem. The wifi is awful on my home hub 5. I use extender to get better wifi cover around the house. Really want a better router. Wished BT would update there router? Home Hub 6?

You can do away with the modem if you configure your HH5 modem to your Infinity account (BT do this for you and then ship it to you when you buy the HH5 from them).
