Fake speed camera signs?

Why not cut the bush down? Then the pillock will see whats coming... People make their own lives difficult.

Isn't the point of that sign simply to say that police cameras could / can be operating in the area, not that there is a sign?

Leave them to it, they aren't doing anyone any harm and probably have a reason, if people are speeding past that place then I can sympathise with them.

The bloke could be aware that theres often mobile speed cameras in the area and think he's helping other drivers?

Or alternatively if he's just one of the old grumpy asses, wait til the dead of night and nick it haha :p

This doesn't make much sense from what I'm seeing. They've got a convex mirror across the road, so it's not like they can't see cars coming around the bend, but the fake speed sign is facing the wrong way anyway if they are hoping to discourage people from speeding around that bend... even if it was facing the other way people wouldn't see it lol! What is the road on the approach to the actual sign? If it's a straight road then maybe they are just trying to get people to slow down, as perhaps there have been accidents there in the past?? Appears to be a sharper than average bend that may catch some unaware.

It's pretty straight but there's another bend and then a blind hill after that. All 30 limits before and after the curve. The bend after the this one is pretty tight and narrow, often having lose gravel on it from the farm entrance. May or may not be relevant but just giving you a wider picture of the scenario. I don't personally give a toss about the sign itself because if you go much faster than 30 anyway you'll end up running over a cyclist at some point round that area. It just the action of mimicking official signary and the legality's it entails that got me curious.

If it was me, I'd feel easier with a replica level crossing outside my driveway, so I could put the lights on and lower the barriers when I wanted to reverse out into the road.

I'm not an expert on this, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this isn't actually illegal.

For certain signs to be enforceable there needs to be traffic order in place but they don't tend to cover advisory notices such as this.

I reckon if nothing else it infringes Crown copyright.

The perpetrator could always simply place some bunches of flowers and other suitable memorial objects on the roadside in imitation of those placed where fatal accidents have happened. Now that is poor taste! But I did read somewhere that certain local authorities did just that.

this reminds me of the jackets that horse riders and motorcyclists seem to have adopted that look like high vis police uniforms but say POLITE notice on them

these

surely these are illegal. if not they should be because they just make the wearer look like a plank.

put a letter through their door saying they should place it somewhere before drivers get to their house so they actually have time to react to it.

It's square. Think that's actually an apple copyright.

I can sympathise with the chap if people have a habit of bombing it around that corner over the speed limit making it dangerous for those who live there.

If someone is going fast enough that they have to slam on the brakes to reach the speed limit when they see it they were already driving far too fast and breaking the law themselves anyway.

You never know, perhaps he's already contacted the council to no avail and he figures something needs to be done before an accident does occur. That's kind of the sad thing with dangerous sections of road, it often takes one or more accidents resulting in severe injury or even death before the relevant authorities take action, but by then the damage has already been done.
