980TI overclock...

What overclock should be possible with an MSI 6g with 63.9% asic?

I am able to get 1448/1851 Mhz, this is not the max of the card, however Asic is 65%. I have taken the card to what l feel is comfortable. Now running at stock, as it is fast enough )

Yeah, I had to flash my bios to up the power limit to incrase stability, but I've got them under water & had to .. do horrible things to one of them to remove the stock cooler so no RMA for me. :p:p:p I have to say, using a circular saw on a £500+ graphics card to cut through metal wasn't a fun thing to do half way through a build :D One slip & I'd have chopped off the end of the board.

DUUDE!!... There is this invention called a screwdriver.. your giving me nervous ticks talking about saw's around hardware.

Is there a way to increase TDP from the max 110 that I get in afterburner? I see on GPU-z on heaven benchmark that PWR is a perfcap reason? also vRel is constantly there... any insight would be great guys!

Could forcing a constant voltage help? what are the benefits and drawbacks of forcing a constant voltage?

ive got an amp too, in after burner the red arrow is im assuming boost, any time i set it so this arrow goes beyond 1400 i get nothing but artifacts. the card is cold ill give it that, but any stock or oc settings gives me ctd's. sending it back to ocuk.

Flashing the bios will up the TDP limit, but there is a minor risk of ruining the card.

The volts will change pending on temperature if it's not under water/amazing cooling/aggressive fan profile (drops volts at just over 60c every 10c roughly).

The issue is, to keep the volts regular requires an aggressive fan profile - this in turn uses more of the power for cooling making you hit the TDP limits sooner (resulting in lower overall performance).

How does one go about flashing the bios? I could give it a try I guess.

Okay, max I get is around 70c on heaven.

This is annoying.

Does a 1430 boost clock seem low then? or is this a normal-ish overclock? Seems to be all over the place

1430 is fine for gaming & unless you plan on putting it under water/benchmarking & the fact your getting 70c temps I wouldn't recommend updating the bios personally.

The problem is we all take 1500Mhz as the "standard", while the only reference should be 1075 as the stock boost.
Otherwise you feel annoyed with a card stable @1430, which is already a massive overclock.

On stock volts most reference PCBs hit 1400-1450. Flashing a bios would only be necessary if you're hitting some kind of limit - whether that's power target, temperature throttling or max voltage.

I'd be very happy, My MSI 290x gaming has a 1030 box clock and on stock voltage it max's at 1090. The Asic say's 72.4 out of interest.

If you lot are get 2 or 3 hundred overclocks and your moaning wow, Nvidia world problems eh.

i just clocked 1400 core and 3800 mem didn't bother to go higher ref car probably could do little more 105% power limit , still have spare 5 % on power limit left .

Same here, really difficult to get stable OC. Even on stock clocks AB shows power limit spikes to 1 every like 5min in Witcher. Not sure if that's game's fault, drivers:?

Power limit set to max doesn't change a thing. Even with max OC 1390/400 GPUZ shows close to 110% power limit. No artifacts, just game crashes. When Witcher crashes at 1400, AB shows at this point some weird number for power limit spike 23523552355%

Running a zotec 980ti amp extreme have settled on 1500 GHz at 1.18v for my daily clocks.

Can get it up to around 1540 before it needs more volts but tbh its not worth pushing it any further.

For anyone looking for stability the best program found is battlefield 4, load up the game and increase your clocks while running back of when it locks up or artifacts.
