Anyone ever heard of one? My son went for a job interview today and was asked for one. He had his NI number with him, but was specifically asked for a NI 'card'.
I've never heard of one before, and certainly don't have one...

Hmmm have to look in to it then. Was it sent out automatically or did you have to ask for one?

Yep it's the card your NI number is provided on, mine arrived just before I was 16 IIRC automatically. Which was 10 years ago.

I remember getting the card. Meant I could buy cigarettes for all the smokers at school - which was profit for me :)

I haven't even bothered to rememebr my NI number. It'll always be "on some paperwork" I've got lying around if/when I need it.

How have you got this far in life and not know about the NI card? Have you been locked away in a garden shed or something? :)

They get sent to you just before your 16th birthday. Assuming you parents registered your birth and address.

OP might be a filthy immigrant! :p

My one sits in my wallet gathering dust and wearing away :(

I have one, or bits of one. It lived in my wallet, til it disintegrated.
