I have a modest budget and I am looking to upgrade from my current R9 270x
The Asus is available for £239 here which is tempting me, I can add an EK water-block to deal with the noise heat issues and have no plans to change from my current resolution of 1080p anytime soon.
Anyone got any experience of these cards?
Anyone know what's required to retain the Asus back plate when using the EK water block?
Cheers.

Ho ho ho! found one.
Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X 4096MB GDDR5
If and I think its a big IF and it actually gets delivered then it will have cost me £215.
That's brand new, not b-grade or refurbished.

There are a couple of places in the Blighty with a very good price on these, one has stock one doesn't; the latter one is the de facto archetypal great etailer with industry-best handling of issues such as warranties, I would choose them 10 times out of 10 also in this case assuming I could wait a bit for stock to arrive. :)

*But then I'm a foreign barsteward so local people's imperial mileage may vary.

The other issue is that I doubt that stock will arrive as they are very much eol.
Just hope I have no problems!

More cards have been arriving every few days, I very much doubt the source ran dry just now, just as they applied an even more substantial discount. :) It looks more like an effort to move the remaining stock.

Smooth and quiet thus far and lots more folding power !
Will try to clock in due course but next task is to get a full cover block for it.
Also going to split the power supply across two 12v sockets on psu before I start squeezing anything out of it.

So far so good, a bit smoother than the 270x it replaced but I have maxed everything in the games I play (1080 remember) so whilst frame rates are sometimes similar the jump in quality is massive.
Folding is hugely improved.
Looking like £227 delivered was a good investment :)
