TLDR - Can 2 people be insured on the same car as the main policy holder earning NCB as im thinking of selling my car

I am insured on my golf as the main policy holder and owner of the vehicle and under section 3 or 5 i think it is I can drive other vehicles under 3rd party cover with other peoples consent.

I am thinking of selling my golf but keeping it insured until I buy another vehicle so I can drive other cars in my household such as my mams or dads as I want to keep building my NCB (Currently 7 years) and then just change the vehicle details once I buy a new car within a few month however. Will I still be able to insure the car if I sell it and someone else tries insure it in their name as the main policy holder?

If I've understood correctly you want to remain insured on your Golf after you have sold it, so that you can continue to drive other vehicles and to continue building your NCB?

No. If you ever need to claim they will point to the clause in your policy which says you own the car and then decline the claim. You would need to declare it as owned by another person and even then I doubt they would allow it.

The "drive other cars" option is for when you have a main car but need to occasionally drive another. The premium you pay is based on the companies view of the risk you pose. Pretending to use a main car that you never drive is fraudulent. What you would be using it for is to drive other cars as your main vehiccle and never drive the Golf. That's just not allowed and any claim would result in your policy being cancelled.

You have understood correctly, I figured as much :'(

Yea thats exactly how I use it at the moment, I drive my golf and if my uncle is using it or whatever then I will drive my mams to the shop.

Yea I would never pretend I drive my golf then drive something else FT similar to the fronting thing where people put them as a named driver when they are actually the main driver.

Just to put a clearer picture on it. I tend to sell my golf then for however long it takes to find a new car such as a few weeks to a month then buy a new one all the while driving my mams car.

Thanks for quick reply.

I suggest you get put on her insurance as a named driver. If you do as you have suggested then you are driving without insurance. If you get stopped or have an accident then you're stuffed.
