Hey folks, my trusty hair clippers expired a short while back and I need some new ones. I've had them a while, but I noticed that while they looked more professional than my old Remington ones, they actually didn't take much punishment before they packed up. So I'm a little cautious about just going into Boots and buying some that look like they'll do the job.

I can't see any recent 'spec me' threads about clippers, so any recommendations? I think my original set were Remington and the last set were BaByliss. Can you actually buy the ones they use in the barber shop? I don't even know who makes those ones.

Forgot about Wahl. Also notice that there are a lot of Li-Ion ones out there which could be handy - unless they are gimmicky. Worth the cop? They won't be much use unless they hold their charge between monthly trims like the power tools do between DIY sessions :D

Comes with a flat top comb? SOLD :D

Oh, wait, I haven't got enough hair for a flat top any more :(

I didn't get any in the end. Though I ought to have and I still need some :D

Has anyone got a pair of the Wahl lithium ion ones? They seem to get poor reviews online about lack of power but: 1) my hair is, well I don't have a lot :p and 2) is the lack of power just compared to the full-fat super taper clippers?

I've got the Wahl mains powered clippers, they've lasted me well for a few years. I've just had to buy a new Wahl beard trimmer too. It's been going strong for years but I left the charger out and the dog chewed the end off of it!

Mrs is a hair dresser. Get Wahl and you wont be disappointed they have had them for years and just oil and re-align them every now and again and they are used everyday countless times

I ordered this Wahl lithium ion one about a month ago to replace the famous remington, its standing up pretty well.

The attachments are good, and easy to swap, its also a lot smaller in size than the remington, ideal for travel, i use the old remington case for all the attachments.

The adjustable guard trimmer attachment is a bit crap, it slips a grade sometimes, so i stick to the non-adjustable guard attachments you get with it.

+1 had mine for 6 months, just the ticket. I am a light user just use it for the stubble look.

It rarely needs charging
