It's The Brits Not The Germans

"OK everyone let's go for an ice cream, pack up your books, tablets, towels, grab your inflatables. We need to take everything with us.
We'll be back in 20 mins but another family may require our sunbeds"

Just for the record I'm staying in a 4* 2 story appartment complex in Alcúdia. Chav resort, pffft. It's 48° in the sun and cooling off in the pool is a godsend. Just hate the towel brigade!

Why does the whole family need to get Ice Cream, can't a couple of people go...?

Leaving some beds for 30 mins - hour whilst you go get lunch or something is fine, if you are using it all day. Putting towels on sunbeds before you go to breakfast at 7am and then not using them till midday is just being a ****.

OK guys we can't all go for an ice cream together, you 2 go first and when you get back we'll go.
We can't all go together as we need to leave some people here so we can keep our sunbeds.
Yeah what a great idea on our family holiday.
And sounds a much better policy then just leaving the towels on the sunbeds lol

This thread isnt complaining about your scenario though.

I held 4 ice creams once, true story.

Absolutely I agree, but we don't do that, we go straight from breakfast to the beds and leave the beds a few times a day for snacks etc

so you not only leave your towel behind you leave your 'books, tablets, and inflatables'??

really? you just leave books, tablets and inflatables laying round behind you? I can see what your next thread is going to be.....'someone stole my book/tablet/inflatable cause I left it laying at my behind' ;)

On returning from holiday earlier this year we were picked up early evening and I left my towel out to dry off a bit whilst I had a shower and changed for the flight home. Unfortunately I was distracted by my partner deciding she needed to do something at the last minute and I forgot to retrieve the towel. In case I ever go back there, can you be charged for reserving a sunbed for the whole summer?

It's yours for life.

Absolutely, I know you have to in chav resorts but in the 5* we're staying it's no problem leaving stuff.

If they let people from Sunderland in, it must be a chav resort. :p

More seriously, people who smoke by the pool are a bigger annoyance if you ask me.

I don't understood this reserve a sunbed thing, in fact if I had never read this thread I wouldn't have assumed it was even an issue. Surely as soon as you get up for a few minutes then you should lose the sunbed?? Reserving something you don't have any more right to that anyone else is just a ****** thing to do. Fair enough if there's some kind of reservation policy but from reading this thread it seems like that is more the exception than the norm

It all comes down to being reasonable human beings. It would be pretty crap if you were enjoying a day by the pool and every time you got up to go to the loo or go grab a drink you lost your sunbed wouldn't it?

Equally though, you shouldn't put towels on them, knowing you aren't going to be using them for a few hours because you are off doing something else.
