Why can horses just **** everywhere?

Last time, I was walking on a pathway and went onto the street as the crap was all over the pavement...

People pick up their dogs crap, why can horse riders just get away with it?

Because they can.

It also annoys me when you see a horse rider on the road who is creating traffic, I mean seriously can't they just transport horses to the country and ride away from the roads?

BTW Do they even pay tax?

How very dare they!

What really drives it home is when you get snooty *******s with a sense of entitlement. By all means rev your engine to those ****ers.

Really, so that's not the exact same thing.

I don't think most folks would ride a horse through busy traffic for fun - it's far from it so got to assume they are trying to get somewhere else and the road is the only option maybe.

Revving your engine up to cause the animal to panic is inexcusable behavior.

To the guy who suggested the horse rider must be able to afford a horse-box because they can afford a horse.....excellent logic, well presented.

I guess as an English insurgent in Wales growing up I've become tolerant as many country lanes and B roads are two inches thick in sheep/cow faeces and when it rains you can bet your chances your car will be a different shade of colour.

But I've always said if you're into the country and horses, then sod off to the country with your horses. But you would be surprised amount of the hate horse riders get here from drivers who live and breath the country and even farmers I've seen a few times yet these are the idiots who drive their tractors to town on an A road. Must be the air up here! :D

Unfortunately some *******s decided to Tarmac a perfectly good lane and allow cars to drive on it. That really causes trouble the hot else riders thy want to ride from their stables to the field they want to ride in...

You're forgetting most roads and were designed for people, horses and carts in the UK. It's only relatively recently cars were allowed on them.

They fall under the Highway Act of 1835, as in they can do what the hell they like on the roads. But not on a public path way.

Oh don't take what I said was literal, it was said in jest :p

My family have owned horses for the past 15 years and even we can't stand the buggers who think they're lord and lady of the road. We've always had a view that if there's room or a place we can stop to minimise traffic it's best for both worlds and decreases risk and honestly, it's just polite. Majority of farmers around my area share the same view and will gladly pull over to let other road users pass.

The trouble with equestrian is it attracts ***holes and they believe a horse comes with a entitlement. Ask anyone with a horse and await the horror stories.

It's no trouble to them to just "pull over" where possible but most will not as you've guessed it, feel like own the road and can dictate the control of traffic because it will scare said horse and will pull out the hand to slow you down.

For those that think having a horse equals well off are mistaken. A trailer alone depending on type of horse/pony is in excess of £3000+ without factoring the necessary tow bar, capable towing vehicle and the cost alone of insurance, feed, medical equipment, vet bills, farrier etc etc. But is my family well off? I wish. But it's a way of life you accept and my parents would be happy with a caravan in the hills with a few acres of land.

Horses are like a child that keeps running into cupboards and falling over at every opportunity and my personal opinion is that unless you're willing to dedicate 100% of life and money to it then it's not for you or me for that matter, lovely animals but would I keep them? I think they're quiet tasty myself :p

One thing is for sure, having a horse makes you poor.

Last figures i saw on keeping a horse from some years ago put the cost then at £300 per month. That was at a time when my mortgage was only £400 a month to put it in perspectice.

Additonal horses over one doesnt add another £300 a month as there is economies in scale.

And this cost didnt inculde the cost of buying and owner your own horse trailers and suitable towing vehicle either.

Most horse owenr's therefore arent rich , in fact most are penniless as the horse drains over £300 a month.

My gf has always owned horses and for a long time she has owned 5 (over 10 years). I'll let you do the maths as to what that would have bought/paid for.

We certainly would have been mortgage free several years ago or we could have easily have paid for a 2nd home villa abroad in that time.

I don't have an issue with horses on the roads, I'll hold back, give them space and go past slow. It's when they don't acknowledge you or give a thanks as you pass when it winds me up but then again some people do lack simple manners, but that's for another thread.
