but that wasn't the proposal lol. it was that Scotland gets to choose how all money is spent but doesn't have to raise all the money with the shortfall being made up by the rest of the uk.

Somebody doesn't understand what Full Fiscal Autonomy means.

Tories: "You're too scared to ask for full fiscal autonomy because you love sponging off the English"

SNP: "Can we have full fiscal autonomy please?"

Tories: "Errrrr....no!"

But you'd be 10bn in the hole from the off now where does that shortfall get made up?

A)Scotland refuses to pay the UK for the nationwide services (armed forces etc)

B)Scotland is given the money by the UK

C)Scotland borrows money from outside creditors with it garrunteed against the UK.

Now given Scotland was going to walk out on its share of the debt you can see why there's a major issue here can't you?

Nothing to do with England but the heel of the Immoral and corrupt rule by Westminster. Don't see any previous parts of the old empire rushing back to be ruled by Westminster again, I wonder why.

Obviously, because the rest of the Western world is so much better.

I heard scottish politicians are like no other they are honest and will not be lead a stray by big money.

Not that they shouldn't vote for independence they're entitled to I just doubt as much will change as they are being promised but I'm a cynical person.

Aslong as the majority get their will I don't mind what happens.

The funniest thing about this, is that Scotland is already the most independant member of the UK, it has more autonomy than Wales and NI, both of which have more autonomy than England XD

It's in the DNA of the/some Scots(probably mainly the SNP types) to complain and blame, their only neighbours are England, put them next to say Russia and they would be running so hard to the 'west' for support it wouldn't be funny. They don't seem to be able to realise when they have a good deal, do they actually teach history in school anymore?

As a Scot any time I see a thread like this on OCUK is makes me shiver, the anti-Scottish drivel rolled out by some members is incredible and there's rarely any punishment for it.

To dislike someone you've never met based on where they live is retarded, I don't care if you're Scottish or English, if you dislike the other because they were born or raised a few miles north/south of you then you need your head checked.

My take:

I voted YES at the referendum, it was a one off, once in a life time. If we have another one it's like the Scottish parliament saying they weren't happy with the result, despite it being democratic. Sod that, I'll vote NO next time if they run it again. The Irish had this happen to them when the EU referendum they had gave the result the politicians didn't like, undemocratic to the core.

Also for those down south who can't quite grasp this - Voting for the SNP doesn't make you an SNP supporter, I don't even like them but I voted for them - why? Who the hell else do Scots have to vote for?

Tories - I would if there was a snowballs chance in hell they'd do anything other than screw me over, they're focused solely on the south of England. I actually support the austerity changes they're bringing in and wish the SNP would stop softening or delaying the blow up here.

Labour - Leadership in Scotland is a joke, it's the same old numpties who couldn't count last time around. They've been gutted but it's the same group of plonkers who are in the background.

Lib dems - screwed over students down south, aren't trustworthy, perhaps now after the clear out I'll return to them.

Greens - Dont' know anyone in it but I typically throw them my second vote for Holyrood.

Independent candidates - I would if we had any that weren't clearly joke candidates standing.

UKIP - I've always had the feeling they saw Scots as unwanted northerners, when they speak about the United Kingdom they seem to mean up until about halfway up England.

Honestly, given the choice who else is going to actually stand up for us? :(

erm that's what the people "down south" have been saying. its the Scottish guy saying that it is.

I can actually see your point. I think the trouble is, large parts of the UK in general feel the same and don't have the alternative you guys do.

Welcome to the Sweeping Statement, would you like a side of bigotry with your order of bile?

I'm with Halfmad, I didn't vote because the SNP were a foregone conclusion, the other candidates didn't have a chance, or, in the case of the Green person, were loonies.

Good post :).

Regarding the anti Scottish drivel I agree, but there's often just as much hate the other way and I get the feeling the comments both ways just fuel it further.

I think the dislike/hate between Scots and English is over exaggerated in general, but the whining from both sides seems to cause a "well screw them then" attitude, resulting in the comments seen.

How was it a sweeping statement when he said SOME Scots. That's the opposite of a sweeping statement.

Then it is up to to the people of England to sort that issue out. Jeremy Corbyn is putting himself forward as a genuine alternative to the cosy neo-liberal consensus between the Tories and Labour and look at the abuse he is getting from the mainstream media, members of his own party and the general public.

England does not have a genuine alternative because it has swallowed the americanist line of socialism=evil.
