Bank account details given to somebody else?

After an interview with what I believe is called an account manager, it later transpired that the matter that was discussed between myself and the manager, were accidently given to another individual along with my credit card and current account details. It took me just over a month to realise this via general query to customer services who had told me that my address details had been changed without my permission.

Unsure as to what action to take barring having already gone in to the bank to make an official complaint.

Your bank changed your address details without you requesting this change?

Yes. I only found out about this when I rang up customer services to explain I had not received my credit card bill and they told me that it had gone to an address neither associated or recognised by me.

What did I just read??

So you saying you went into the bank for a chat and your details where handed over to someone else???

I have a lot of experience with banks and what your saying is impossible.

This individual was it an employee or a customer ?

Only time something went pete tong was my missus payed money in and they did not clear previous account and money went into previous customers account.

Sorted within 3 hours. Banks don't mess around so that's why your statement sounds a little crazy. ;)

Call said branch, you want an appointment with the manager or a different account manager to discuss their actions and how they plan to resolve it and what measures they will put in place to prevent these actions happening again. I would expect them to issue new account numbers and credit cards, transfer all your billing for you to the new account then compensate you accordingly as if you had mismanaged your finances.

Natwest did pretty much the same to me a few years ago (before their "customer promise" advertising was released), lost my ISA after transferring it to them then sent me someone else's account details and lots of scribbled notes from someone's desk with other account details on. Try and get it in writing that they have messed up and will resolve the situation.

It was confirmed by the credit card people I spoke to and the individual in my local bank who I talked to and told to rectify straight away. I had to rush up to the local bank because they were unable to amend or rectify the situation by phone due to security. This was a month later and was also confirmed in the actual bank by the person on the paying in desk who told me it was both accounts and not just the one. I believe it was the employee that made the cockup because I received a call from someone a week later talking about a load of things that were not discussed or recognised, which led me to believe it was a scam. Not for a second would I have expected them to get me mixed up with somebody else and then go ahead and change my address?

Absolutely crazy??

I hate banks am dumping mine soon as I empty my account. I will just use the missus account for anything I need. ;)

Sounds like two forms on a desk and they've put the wrong details in file for each of the customs.
Bad service for sure.

Was anything spent on the cc, or taken from your account during this period, or do those cards lie dormant in envelopes at the wrong address until now?

It did take ulsetrbank mortgages through natwest, four faxes and three written bank cosigned letters to finally change the postal address on one of my mortgages. Twas quite idiotic, as their security questions on the phone were all for the new address, and when investiagted they could see the change if address request in their comouter, and no mailing address was on file, as the previous one was now blocked as mail had been returned from it.
Utter madness.
