r9380x or or 908ti?

I will never never never never go with AMD again.... of the two AMD cards i have bought BOTH were faulty...2 out of 2 seriously?

Sorry i'm a bit annoyed at the moment as i am out of pocket through ZERO fault of my own except maybe being too trusting....silly me...

Go with the GTX980ti far far far more reliable and regularly updated drivers, way better performance as well.

might argue the 390 is actually better value than the 390x. Not just because I have 2 of them, but £70 cheaper for a few hundred Stream Processors difference. Can still clock my cards to 1150 on core with default volts as well.

You do realise that that's something that happens with Nvidia cards as well, right? Besides, Nvidia's drivers have been worse than AMD's for the past year.

PS: You shouldn't be out of pocket, unless you purchased from a bad retailer.

Yeah i realise that but i guess i am just amazingly lucky with Nvidia cards. 2 out of 3 Amd cards i have had have been faulty. Ive never bought an Amd card before then (owned 3 of their cards in total) so as a new customer to pc components its disturbing that i could manage to snag 2 faulty ones straight off the bat.

Does make me wonder.

So which of these cards would you get? Obviously the AMD is around 350 quid, the Nvidea 500....Is the 500 from 350 worth the 150 quid extra?

Thanks

a) There is no such product as R9 380X. There is the R9 380, R9 390 and R9 390X
I assume you mean 390X.

b) You compared apples and oranges. It would be more accurate to compare the Fury or Fury X with the GTX980Ti since they are in the same price range.

c) If you play up to 2560x1440 get the 390X and save the £150. Get the MSI Gaming, comes with the best factory overclock.

d) If your budget is £520 then that is a different can of worms there. We can start talking about Fury X and 980Ti all night. Take into consideration that the good GTX980Ti are at around £550-570 though.
And if you have that amount of money buy it. However waste if you play games at 1080p.

What a load of ****. Using defective hardware as a base for opinion?

@OP. What games and what res are we talking? I went from a 290 to a 980ti and at 1920x1080 it would have been a waste of money as the 290 handled business just fine. No coil whine either!!

I just got myself a 980ti with my new build and it's unreal, clocked at 1390 out of the box and upto 1500 on the core which a lot of them are easily reaching and tearing through games, have been on AMD for the past 4 years and I won't go back.
